Sorry, went dark on a river for a week. They have the financing done for renovations. Just need to get the permits lined up and get working. They were still planning what to do with the former Mac Grill space and the food space on the west end. I'm really excited that somebody will be pumping money into that building. Love those bones.

SALT LAKE CITY — Poll results are in, and they're reaffirming city leaders' decision to close at least two city golf courses: Glendale and Jordan River Par-3.

Two surveys contracted by Mayor Ralph Becker's office indicate that Salt Lake City residents want open space, parks and trails, but aren't as interested in golf.

City Councilman Kyle LaMalfa, whose district encompasses Glendale, said the results illustrate how Salt Lake residents' recreation preferences are changing.

"I think Salt Lake, as progressive as we are about many things, is way behind the times for trails," LaMalfa said. "Cities like Logan, Ogden, Provo, Orem and St. George are way ahead...

This is quite misleading as the city already closed down the Jordan River Par-3 and is using it as a Disc Golf course. I haven't played there, but I drive by every day and it looks like it is being used a lot and might be a great use for that location.

The Rose park area of Salt Lake, especially in the newer sections around Redwood Road, have a lot of developed parks. With the Jordan river trail, there really are some fine facilities for recreating in the area. The new Sports Complex is coming along and is set to open sometime this summer. It will be a very nice sports complex.

Yeah, I've been wondering how the new sports park has been progressing. That's really going to be a big plus for the community when it's finished.

Photo update of the Liberty Crest Apartments, we should see the sticks going up soon. Also SL City News has started podcasting and the first show is up now. New shows will be posted weekly and snippets will air on KRCL.

Looks great Isaac, and I'll need to check the podcast out. I do wish they'd be more...original? with the names of these housing developments. I forgot that this "Liberty Crest" was one I was interested in, as opposed to "Liberty ____" and "Freedom ___" and "Liberty Liberty" and ... Yeah.

I drive a lot so I love podcast.... They should add a forum with modern technologies such as a mobile version.

I drove by the Regional Athletic Complex yesterday afternoon and snapped a couple of photos. Sorry, I only had my phone with me, but you can get an overall feel of how the project is moving along.
From what I could tell, there is grass on 12 of the 16 fields and the remaining fields are being prepared for sod.
The championship field was originally to have sports grass, but it looks to be natural grass. That field has a small fence around it, but there are no stands around it - those could be coming later.
The curbing for the parking lots has been completed, but the lots have not been paved.
There are several dozen small trees that are ready to be planted.

I would guess that they are looking at an August completion date as there is still a lot of landscaping to do around the playing fields and pond.

Thanks for the pics T-Stan and AjiuO. I have noticed that the westgate lofts are pretty well gutted.

I drove by the soccer complex a few weeks ago but failed to get any pics so I'm glad someone else got some. I would like to see that west area between downtown and davis county fill in a little more. I think this is a good project to get people down there.

Yes, Thanks for catching those pics of the Sports Complex T-Stan. Looks like it's coming right along. It will be good to finally get it finished and under operation. A lot of people have put tremendous effort over the years to make that a reality, among them Mayor Becker. And also, Thankyou AjiuO for those great update pics. Very nice! Ha, I now know I have another excellent photog to nag for more pics.
