I'm not crazy about the Georgia project. I applaud getting away from the blue-box monotony but it just seems to "busy" for my liking.

There is a fine line between innovative and gaudy and this strikes me as the latter. It has the makings of a great building but it seems to be trying too hard.

I like the design from an aesthetics point of view but practically speaking having a window that is directly overlooking and seeing into your neighbour's unit and vice versa seems like the worst possible configuration for an apartment.

I am not sure if it is the perfect thread to do it, but I have seen people talking about that project a few posts ago, I'll do it anyway.
On my way to a meeting, I passed in front of Le Nuovo, an apartment building which is under construction in the Little Italy in Montreal, and i took a picture.
I thought I would share it with you guys.
The project is quite advanced. I am not sure of the deadline, there is no proper detail regarding that matter on Le Nuovo's website, do any of you know anything about that?

Well done QC. I hope it can move forward as shown. I love the over turned boats as sheltered spaces. This makes up for that 900 foot farce which I hope never gets built.

Big news out of Montreal!

The new design for phases 2 and 3 of Tour des Canadiens is out. It was revised to a height of 170m and 47 stories (the previous design was two towers of 120m). The architects are Page+Steele.

2x170m is what was written in the OCPM document made by Cadillac Fairview. CF and the city have been discussing for a while concerning the revitalization of the area South of the Bell Centre.

Boo! That's a downgrade. More generic condo filler for a city that deserves better. I'm in NYC right now for the first time and aside from tall buildings I was trying to determine why it feels so much different from Montreal since they both have a solid stock of old brick and stone buildings forming a streetwal. The big difference to me is that Manhattan has amazing, avant guard infills everywhere that stand up to and balance the old stuff. Montreal has non descript 60's brutalist buildings and more non descript condos that mostly just blend in.
