Yes, its been down for weeks. I think the bank is about to open. The exterior looks much better after a cleaning.

Has the facade been cleaned? The windows have not been washed. Still coated with dirt.

Yes, there was a masonry restoration contractor on the job in the early phases. The building almost looks white now.

I wouldn't say the building is almost white - just my personal POV, and I go by several times a week - but I guess it must be cleaner than before. I just forget how dirty it used to be . . . I never recall it having been that dark to begin with.

The windows are relatively new and in pretty good shape, so I understand why they are keeping rather than replacing them - though they are not the most beautiful windows. But they are still dirty.

I hope they get a window cleaner soon.

Well obviously this is going to have a substantial below grade garage. This project is adding a LOT of rooms to the market. I wonder if any hotel in CC outside of the CC marriott has more rooms than this. I believe the marriott has 1200 rooms and is the largest in the state.

Maybe someday I can park at this lot for City Hall instead of the one under Love Park, which is a dangerous, dark, filthy, urine-soaked cesspool.

The Philadelphia Marriott Downtown has 1,408 guest rooms, and is the largest Marriott property in the state of PA. The second largest Marriott is the Courtyard Philadelphia Downtown with 499 guest rooms, and the Philadelphia Airport Marriott comes in 3rd with 419 guest rooms. I am an employee of Marriott so I know these numbers are accurate, as for other hotel chains I am not sure how many rooms there are.

The first floor facade is nearly white because the original masonry was removed and an all new facade was created. I watched them putting it up.

Yesterday, they were cleaning all the windows, at least on Chestnut side.

Also, this morning they were putting up all new sconces on the first floor. I'm thankful because the temporary lights along Chestnut didn't look so great.

People have been moving in since 6/1. I can see them unpacking there boxes and setting up house in a handful of units.

On the W site, it looks like they are exploring and removing parts of the original foundations. one day they were digging up and removing a bunch of girders and another day they appeared to have located a basement wall and were breaking it up and removing it. it looks like slow, tedious work. I just want them to begin digging in earnest.

Even though the building will house 700 hotel rooms, it will be split between two different hotels: The W and the Element hotels. I don't think these will be counted as one but two separate.

Yes and two separate entrances. Probably a single General Manger though, for the whole property. Reminds me of the Four Seasons at the Mirage (?) in Las Vegas. Old building but if you gut a couple floors, change the quality of the finishes, and establish a separate entrance, you have what some call the best luxury hotel on the strip.

LOVE park garage is being renovated along with the park on top. It will get elevators, ventilation upgrades and other improvements. Its been sold to a chicago parking company.
