What's a building under 6-stories then? No-rise?

6-12 stories is mid-rise. Let's not let this "new normal (because our towers are getting sooo tall)" become a thing

Starting to see the light or should i say shadow. City planners have it all wrong. Limits on height, density and shadowing are all obsolete principles from a simpler time. Bring on the mega developments. Height is all that keeps our cities relevant.

Or, I just shouldn't have visited SSC Toronto during a fit of insomnia.

10-12 stories used to constitute a skyscraper. If somebody came on here with an 11 storey proposal calling it a skyscraper they would be laughed off the forum. I think it's fair to say depending on where a building is going up 6-12 might be considered lo rise. 1-9 should be lo-rise, 10 -19 mid-rise and 20 + highrise. At least in places like Vancouver and Toronto.

I see the term skyscraper defined by how tall a building looks to an individual. Rise terms related more to the form and function of buildings. That doesn't change no matter how many tall buildings dot the skyline.

re: Bayview Sheppard. Whippersnapper is joking when he's refering to that Kirkor schlock as being too modern: Most of the area is hideous faux classical mcmansion-style condos/townhouses/mcmansions, featuring hideous precast, copper, faux stone veneers etc.

What Bayview/Shep needs: bulldozed and start over with at minimum, Freedville-scaled/styled density.

Since when has the city allowed casinos? The reason why there are current casinos in NuWest and Richmond is because Vancouver would never allow them.

The Edgewater has been around there forever. I believe that Edgewater's operations will essentially be transferred to Parq.

So, a couple things I saw that I'm sort of concerned about.

Edmonton. Looks potentially awkward.

Victoria. I hope that's just a massing. Doesn't look up to Victoria's standards.

Gah! Editing size.

What exactly is the opposition about? It's not like that side of downtown has a whole lot of people in it.
