I wonder how cooperative Denver would have been if not for the fact that Adams County had them by the short hairs. Understandably Denver's motivation and Adams County's leverage resulted in the original, unique agreement.

But I do agree it was good they reached a mutually beneficial agreement.
Aerotropolis, here we come.
Airport City is actually different than the Aerotropolis, but it's probably a big step towards it, especially with Hancock still at the helm.

It says Dish and T-Mobile are in talks. T-Mobile has been further along than that before...actual deals not just talks.

For my region, hopefully they'd retain a sizeable Bellevue headquarters or satellite office (get it?). Bellevue is already losing the Expedia HQ (to a site near Downtown Seattle), Microsoft just announced a 170,000 sf cutback, and Valve is reportedly considering other parts of town.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I would totally hope that T-Mobile would be relocated to Colorado and that Dish decides to take the Comcast route and build a prestige office tower downtown.

That design for Glendale 180 looks pretty nice. I like the balcony that overlooks the creek and maybe the mountains beyond. The curves are nice. The original proposal to dam Cherry Creek seemed impractical to me anyway. The creek just doesn't have that much water. I don't see people really taking punt or gondola rides around in the pond enough that would make it cost effective. What Pueblo has done with their riverwalk is admirable and doesn't get enough credit and attention. Hopefully the expanded convention center and other development along the riverwalk will be a big boost.

Funny that they call this one a TOD, or maybe its just the whole development is referred to as a TOD

Sorry for bringing up a dead topic, but I found out today that elitch gardens just opened a new (very expensive) waterslide.

Slidezilla, which actually won the 2014 IAAPA award for best waterslide design.

https://www.elitchgardens.com/slidezilla

Is elitches really planning on moving??

Being under contract doesn't mean that Elitch's is planning on shutting down and relocating next month. The purchase contract could have terms whereby Elitch's has to have a new location lined up before the Buyer can close one property and has a timeline in which to do so. Or there could be terms whereby the Buyer has to secure Elitch's a new location first.

I wonder how much Elitch's would get for their land in a sale? The original move cost close to $100M including environmental remediation and I imagine that you'd be talking at least $2-3M per acre in a sale. So you'd be talking a $200M sales price.

To add to wong's wisdom, if the buyer were Kroenke this would make a lot of sense to add control of the land to his Pepsi Center holdings. He might have no development interest in mind at this time; he could have easily executed a sale-leaseback for 10/20/50 years, who knows (at this point).

So since 1144 is breaking ground, does that just leave us with Tabor II languishing? I almost feel like Tabor II should be a residential tower instead of office. Is that something that could be allowed by zoning? Only problem is of course, no one is building condos--but I almost wondering if Tabor II is truly viable as any office project in this current cycle. Thoughts?

999 17th St is still floating around. The latest Downtown Denver Partnership development map from April listed it as proposed and the Denver Development Project Report has it listed as a 380 unit development. Further, some rendering were posted of it around a year ago.

There is also still 15th and California which seems to refuse to die.

Also the building at the corner of Tremont and Colfax has been pretty much gutted. I am pretty sure the plan is to add two more stories and turn it into a hotel (I am pretty sure it is going to be one of the more lower priced hotels but I do not remember which one).

That's cool they are converting that building at Colfax and Tremont into a hotel. I hope they leave the nice 1950's yellow exterior panels and I would rather they didn't add storeys to it. I like the Le Corbusier-like rounded yellow thing on top, which I assume hides mechanical stuff. After the seriously shitty job with the addition to the historic bank on 17th Street to convert it into a hotel I have no faith they will top this building with anything decent.

it would be kind of fun to build and furnish an entire house entirely in steel and glass.

Is timber construction just as bad as "stick built," or does the log cabin look get bonus points?

Can we.... Can we build a 5-story apartment building out of log cabin material?

Cabin in the City at River North.

Well, the Ajax Lofts in Prospect was built with a heavy timber structural system. A good bit of drama and legality ensued in part to the novel design.
