I know that the lobby of the proposed condo building for that location is being actively designed by an architect who's a neighbor of mine. Sorry I don't have any more details, but at least that fact indicates money is still being spent with an expectation that it will be built.

$300 million Turner Field redevelopment strikes out with neighbors

http://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/morni...ion-turner-field-redevelopment-plan.html

The last thing that I think this area needs is more single family and senior housing. It will be interesting to see if the RFP process plays out here.

Here is the $1B redevelopment plan proposed by Carter and Ga State

Just curious- why is it your favorite proposal? Aside from the "twisting" design to be different.

Not sure if it's been mentioned here already, but the site of the former Checkers on 10th and Spring has been busy this week. Plenty of dirt has been turned, and the building behind that lot is slowly being demolished too. Also, I noticed trees being removed on the site immediately west of University House on Spring (Modera, I believe). I hope this is just the beginning for Spring Street, and I hope the development creeps north of 14th too.

Yep, Midtown Alliance site is now listing Hanover Midtown under construction as well as Azure on the Park, and Broadstone Terraces all with Fall 2016 est. completion dates.

That article makes me just want to shake my head. Single Family homes in a prime piece of downtown real estate? This is a huge opportunity for Georgia State to create a pretty great campus extension that ties into downtown and the neighborhood which should lead to stabilizing that neighborhood. Single Family housing and Senior housing just seems like a waste and not the solution.

Oh yeah, and by calculations per Midtown Alliance website, there are over 3000 units officially under construction in Midtown.

3020 apartments, student apartments, or condo units.

Source: http://www.midtownatl.com/business/development-tour

There are a total of 14 projects under construction altogether.

I know the above quote was not in reference to me so my apologies for answering out of place. 98 14th Street is one of my favorite proposals as well so I decided I might as well chime in and give my opinion. My reasons are:

1) The density of the project - this one project would add 1300 residential units, 340 hotel rooms and 90,000 sq feet of retail space to a mere 4 acres.

2) The height - I must admit that I love height. If all are built, these towers would be 60, 57 and 39 stories. The two tallest towers would rise above 600' tall. They will make quite the impact on the skyline.

3) The architecture - Whilst these buildings may not be as awe inspiring as a new skyscraper in Shanghai, I find the architecture appealing. It is restrained yet interesting. I wish the curvature of the tops were a little higher. That would add more "WOW" to the design. I like decorative tops. I think that in it's current form it is interesting without being garish. Also, towers B & C address 14th Street nicely. I'm not an architect. This is merely from a layperson's perspective.

4) The location - This development is steps from the Arts Center MARTA station. It's also in a location that is surrounded by quality proposals as well as buildings currently under construction.

Those are my reasons.

This development has that "go BIG or go home" feel to it. It's bold, it's tall, it's ambitious, it's Atlanta.

Not that I doubt you Alex but I went to the Atlantic House webcam. I can also see a big yellow vehicle that appears to be soil testing at the site. It appears to have started around 9am.

i love the plan also, but i'm thinking the $198 million estimate is incredibly wishful thinking.

"Site work and new construction of a residential tower in Atlanta. Completed working plans call for the construction of a 22-story, 220-unit residential tower."

I wonder which building this is, 22 stories would be fitting for 880 West Peachtree, however I thought that building was supposed to have somewhere in the range of 350 units

No that is for Alta at the Park

This is for 880 West Peachtree, looks like proposal stalled: https://www.bidclerk.com/project/2916902.html

And 98 14th is here: https://www.bidclerk.com/project/2707029.html Fall 2015 is listed as earliest project would start construction

Campanile Six Floor Addition: https://www.bidclerk.com/project/3079213.html Estimated to start Q4 2015

I think capping 400 is a great idea. This will go a long way in making The Buckhead CBD more walker friendly. People feel more comfortable walking in areas where others are already congregating. The greenspace on top of it is desperately needed and can be used as a catalyst to increase pedestrian activity in the area. Also, connecting this to PATH400 will give direct access to greenspace to anyone who lives near the trial. This will hopefully increase people using PATH400. Which at current usage could really use the boost. I gotta say Buckhead is really impressing me right now.

A friend of mine at CBRE told me that Carter is redeveloping 715 Peachtree Street (that old ten story building across from Solace) It would be primarily office with retail fronting Peachtree street. They are apparently aiming for a restaurant tenant to anchor the space.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but when you log in you get more information and it says, "As of May 22, 2015, this project is currently on hold. An architect has been selected, however a timeline for completing the construction documents has not yet been released. A general contractor has not yet been selected, and the method of contractor selection is still being determined. A firm timeline for construction has not yet been established, construction is not expected to commence prior to fall 2015 at the earliest"

The only files on there are a rudimentary site plan and a photo of the south elevation.
