Plazas are 2-pipe fan coil (not heat pump).

more affordable (not sure for how much longer though!).

Yeah I may not be the best person to explain these things as I'm no expert hah. Thanks for the clarification, I just tried to sum up what I had read up online a while back.

In any case, for anyone who actually cares in detail about how the system works, here are the links:
https://www.climatemaster.com/commercial-watersource
https://www.climatemaster.com/commercial-watersource-install
https://www.climatemaster.com/commercial-watersource-illistration
http://www.energydepot.com/RPUcom/library/HVAC012.asp

Basically, my understanding is that it's a pretty efficient system which is my main concern. Also, the ability to turn on my air con right away in the spring when it suddenly gets crazy hot is something I'm happy about too .

nredding - Thanks! The table is actually a 1930s ship hatchback door with cast iron legs added afterwards. It's from a store in Montreal called Style Labo that sells mostly one-of-a-kind salvaged kinds of furniture. If you're into the industrial modern style like we are, I highly recommend checking it out as well as its sister company Brut.

Does the bearded man playing video games come with every condo at Gotham? Might be a solid selling point!

Unit looks amazing, love all that reclaimed wood.

Maybe its a weird photo but that lobby looks.... interesting. Does the lobby overall look anything like the render?

Its also a little weird that they didn't bother extending the counter-top on that kitchen peninsula to accommodate stools. Seems like a no brainer for condos, but you def made the best of it with a table there.

MoreTrains - Haha, that's my boyfriend playing his games. Having a housebear is great, I recommend it to everyone!

Thanks cr...actually, regarding that countertop, I asked about that at the color selection appointment and that was an upgrade option. The problem was, at the time, we had no idea how far out that column next to the counter extended (from the plans, it looked like it was only a couple inches). If it was a couple inches, it would've been a bit weird so close to the wall and not have the countertop extend to hit the wall. So I asked them if I got the upgrade on the countertop, if they could make the countertop extend a bit length-wise to wrap around the column and hit the wall and Celeste told me it was not possible. Because of that, I didn't get it.

As far as the lobby goes, the lobby doesn't really look like the rendering, no. They switched the areas around so where you see the "Gotham" lit up sign in the rendering, behind that is now the mail area. And the desk area will be on the right side when you come in.

They're not finished of course so it's still really rough around the edges but I'm digging what they're doing so far. Those greyish tiles look better in person than in the iPhone photo. I also didn't expect them to follow the rendering anyway as it seems a lot of places never do when it comes to the finishes and style - and I don't actually want them to because it reminds me too much of what Core Architects did in Toronto with the Opus @ Pantages (my friend used to live in that building).

The only finish from the rendering so far that I do recognize is the white marble tile on the right side - that tile is up in the waiting area for the elevators on all the floors above the first floor.

Hayao Miyazaki is my favourite animator. I'm plan is to visit Japan next summer or the year after that, and the Ghibli Museum is one of my destinations.

Anyway, it's good that you guys are finally settling in to your unit.
I went to the museum last Summer, worth the visit!

For those complaining about the rental prices, I used to pay $1700 per month in 2006 for a two bedroom in East Market phase 1.

I was the second one to move into East Market phase 3, didn't have much issues. And for some memories, it seems that my old unit is on the (east) market!

In general, the build quality is quite bad in Ottawa. Centropolis on Kent was horrible, I complained so much to my landlord that I got a refund on a month and let go my lease early.

Hahah thanks we should definitely be friends - and yeah it's been many years since I've seen it but Grave of the Fireflies actually had me depressed for a few days after watching it.

I still haven't seen Howl's Moving Castle or The Wind Rises but I've seen every other feature film Miyazaki's done. I will have to get on Howl's! This is actually giving me the itch to watch some Miyazaki so I might actually check it off the list this weekend heh. Totoro is my all-time favourite but Spirited Away or Princess Mononoke are probably his masterpieces. I have a big soft spot for Laputa: Castle in the Sky too cause I watched that over and over as a kid.

Balcony furniture is in! Here's a quick night-time shot (again, just taken with the iPhone) from one end. Where I'm standing to take the picture, we'll be putting a bbq in. We had a coffee table between the loveseat and the cubes too but we returned it cause it was just way too massive and made the balcony feel cramped. I stayed out there for several hours last night just listening to music and browsing on my iPad heh

Looks great! I am using all of this as inspiration for my move in next year. Can I ask where you got your couch? Looks like a perfect size for a condo.

Thank you! The couch (Hays Mags) is technically oversized for our space - we were looking ideally at the 7-8' range which is more condo size but then we saw this one and thought it was worth it to have a bigger couch where you could not only sprawl out on it but have several people sit. This one is 10' long but modular with 3 pieces so you can get all kinds of different configurations ranging in size. The reason this actually doesn't look too bad in the condo I think is because it's so low to the ground and open-ended on one side that it gives the illusion of a bigger space. Another thing I've heard that helps (a rule which we broke with this couch but kept with the coffee table) is to look for furniture that is lifted up on legs - that helps the illusion of a bigger space as well.

Anyway, we ordered the couch at themodernshop on Sussex - definitely worth taking a look at their stuff. Be warned - it is easily the most expensive piece in our condo and it took four months to arrive but it was well worth it I think.

The loveseat thingy on the balcony is cast aluminum patio furniture, I think the brand is called Cabana Coast or something.

Can I ask where you got those LED seats/ottomans from? I was looking for something similar, but couldn't find any that shipped in Canada.

Thanks!

Hi, been following this forum at least since Christmas when I realised Gotham was late in completion or closing so wanted to see what was ongoing for a while but now I had to chime in now because jcphoenix and Ralphedelominius, I love your condo! I had seen the renders you had posted earlier but I didn't expect it to look this good. I too want to know where you got those LED stools from!

Congrats to all of you for finally moving in, I know it was nuts from what I saw.
