Noticed that Jack Astors opened their patio, it is a solid looking one, with many heaters, so that one should go late into the fall. Joey's and Local still working on their patios, shouldn't be long now before they open and judging by their construction, those patios will also be quite solid and include heaters. Makes me wonder if Milestones will upgrade their patio for next year or keep it minimalist as is?

I was there at about 5pm on Sunday, so a good 2 hours after the Farmer's Market wrapped up, and all of Lansdowne had quite a few people walking around, and both Jack Astors and Milestones patios were full! Good sign.

I also noticed that there is an all day breakfast place about to open across from Winners, and a small Asian Cuisine place coming soon as well, across from the Industria.

Lansdowne is slowly becoming a foodie place, I approve!
Mad Max and D-Box were made for each other

D-Box tickets are pretty expensive though(more expensive than VIP tickets), so it's a few times a year thing rather than a regular experience. I can't wait to see Star Wars on D-Box.

I only went to the Lansdowne park cinemas once to see Cinderella. I just went to the regular cinemas in which I paid one regular adult ticket like I do at Silvercity. Most of the films which they play at Lansdowne park are not interesting to me. They show a lot of those Hollywood action movies which sound stupid to me. There is 'Far From the Madding Crowd' playing at the Lansdowne park. My father may want to see the movie and he does not want to go to Lansdowne park. He does not like to go there to park underneath the garage, even if it is free. He prefers to go to Silvercity or the Rainbow, because there is a lot of parking space and you do not have to pay for parking. He goes to the Bytowne in weekends, because you can park free at the University and at Loblaws, if you buy something. They do not even play the National theatre live at the Lansdowne park. They did not show the 'Monkey Kingdom' nor 'The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel'.
To me, there is not a great selection of movies at the Lansdowne cinemas.

I agree there is not a good selection of movies showing. Perhaps, they are deliberately trying to not compete with the Mayfair. I went yesterday and then to Joey. I liked Joey and service was very attentive. They said the patio will be open in the next week or so, in time for the Women's World Cup.

I agree! It is probably true, because the Mayfair is only a few blocks down. Most of the people who live in the Glebe tend to be quite well-off and do not want to see rubbishy movies at the Lansdowne park. They probably would go to the Mayfair, because it shows a variety of foreign, classic, indie, and second run films like the Bytowne. The Mayfair is much cheaper than Lansdowne and has more simple snacks. Many people who attend the Mayfair probably have Membership cards. Since many people love the Mayfair, they do not want this cinema to close down. The Mayfair is not the type of cinema which will show 3D movies and rubbishy Hollywood films. The Mayfair is probably more suited for the Glebe people than the Lansdowne park. Why should well-off people spend lots of money to see a lousy movie at Lansdowne, especially at the VIP where you have to pay lots of money.

I don't know what types of movies you like, but the big Hollywood blockbusters bring in the younger audience and the money, so I'm not surprised that their focus is on that. There's only 10 screens at Lansdowne and a lot of them are mixed D-Box/3D/AVX so there's only so much they can afford to allocate to the smaller, lesser known movies.

Good thing we have multiple options in Ottawa for movies, just most of them require you to drive out

You are probably right! Most people like movies like that. Whether someone thinks these Hollywood movies are good or not, is just a matter of opinion. People have different tastes. One person may not like something, does not mean the other person is the same. These things are very subjective.

Saw Mad Max yesterday, and WOW, speechless! Blew me away, still cant come to terms with what I experienced!

On a side note, more inline with this thread, I wanted to share my idea of a Night Market/Night Bazaar at Lansdowne during the warm summer months.

The market square has some nice retro lanterns hanging there already, so it seems like a no brainer to have something happening there once the sun sets, in lieu of an deserted space. Looking back at my travels, I remember many different night markets or night bazaars in various cities I have visited and these are always a fun time for locals and tourists. Local artists selling their creations, food trucks/carts, buskers, even farmers selling their produce. I wonder if this idea has been already mentioned by someone on here, or better yet, has anyone by chance heard of this idea talked about by the city or OSEG?

Are you referring to the Farmer's market which is opened Sunday morning at Brewer's park. I do not go there anymore. I prefer to go to the Byward market, because it is closer. They do sell some local foods which are good. I use to try the freshly squeezed lemonade which was good and the apple cider. Have you guys ever been to the Yummy cookies in the market? The apple and carrot muffins are delicious.

Ha, I agree. It certainly takes the meaning of "Skyscraper" out of the skyscraper page forum.

I love the idea of a night market in Ottawa, but not at Lansdowne. The yuppies need their sleep, can't have a raucous crowd of ne'er–do–well's getting up to no good shopping and eating at the night market right there in the Glebe. I think the best spot for a night market would be the potentially redeveloped 'distillery-like' district in Little Italy.

CRAFT beer market coming to Lansdowne Park.

The craft beer boom continues to grow in the capital.

CRAFT Beer Market, a "premium casual restaurant" based predominantly out west (Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver) is launching its first foray into eastern Canada.

The restaurant has secured a spot in Lansdowne Park and hopes to open by early 2016.

"We've been keeping our eye on the Ontario market for a couple of years and see so much potential for a concept like ours," says PJ L'Heureux, president and founder of CRAFT Beer Market. "There are a lot of great things happening in the Ontario craft beer community and we are excited to help spread the word and be part of such a great community."

CRAFT Beer Market will compete with neighbours LOCAL Public Eatery, Joey Lansdowne, Milestones, Jack Astor's and South St. Burger Company.

CRAFT will offer a large selection of beers, serving up everything from local craft breweries, to North American and European brews.

The Lansdowne location will feature Ontario's largest selection of draft beer with more than 120 beers on tap.

"Our goal is to create an approachable environment for the community to come together and enjoy great food and great craft beer under one roof," says L'Heureux. "We are very community focused and look forward to getting to know our neighbours in Landsdowne and Ottawa."

I walked through here on the weekend and I gotta say, I just wish more of the city felt like that. Mid sized buildings anchored by some larger towers, ample space to walk and very pedestrian oriented. The only thing that could make things better is more residential in the commercial buildings. But I am sure that would happen if this were a larger re-development.

I hope that LeBreton has a similar feel when it is done.

Finally a restaurant / drinking establishment on Bank street within the new development, I agree, sure beats a pharmacy! Only downside, have to waint until next year.

Don't hold your breath for LeBreton.....you may need to walk across to ZIBI.

I’m only partially happy, yes it is much better than a pharmacy but I wish it was a true brew house that produced a true local craft beer that also had a store that you can purchase their products (if that is possible). This is more like the Bier Mrkt where they carry a bunch of beers but at least they carry them on tap.

According to the post above, there will be ample beers on tap at CRAFT.

I believe the new beer-selling rules coming in Ontario would still prohibit a "craft beer store" as this would compete with THE Beer Store and we can't have that sort of thing in Ontario. Only 450 grocers in all of Ontario will be "allowed" to sell beer and even that will be under stringent rules. Still, this establishment will be a welcome addition to Lansdowne and hopefully liven up the Bank Street frontage.

From my understanding of the new rules, craft brewers will be allowed to sell beer for taking home at any location they own or operate (by contrast, previously they were limited to one store at a place they actually produce beer at). I'm pretty sure that a company that retails for a craft brewer like what TheGoods described would still be prohibited.
