He was being courteous and asking questions with respect. I am baffled as to why he was deleted. Its like an elitist country club on that board.

Then again derrogatory remarks like saying cfl fans named "billy bob and bubba" are par for the course at rpb, provided of course you conform to the views of the elite moderating there.

Thank you - I went looking, but couldn't find them and thought they were deleted.

I think it's the latter, it's basically a "fan club" mentality where supporters get together and try to outdo each other in their devotion to their idols. I assume that you could probably find the same sort of dynamic among the adolescent girls who frequent boy-band website forums.

Oilkountry was not out of line, he asked a reasonable question respectfully, took a bunch of cheap shots, responded more or less in kind and then got the ban hammer.

I don't see why I got banned I guess the 2nd post may have come off as abrasive. but to be banned for that? yikes! Not that I care I just wanted to see what they thought of shrinking the feild because like i said i have no idea when it comes to soccer. And as for this forum being unwelcoming to Soccer fans or pro CFL I don't agree with that at all. Unless you're fatty and just out to disagree with everything just for simple kicks you are treated pretty well here.

Hamilton’s stadium is “substantially complete”

Hamilton Spectator
By Matthew Van Dongen
http://www.thespec.com/news-story/5609721-hamilton-s-stadium-is-substantially-complete-/

Hamilton can finally take over its $145 million stadium next week – and now the race is on to get it event-ready.

An independent certifier for Infrastructure Ontario alerted the city Friday evening that the long-delayed construction project has achieved "substantial completion."

That means the city finally gets the keys – 10 months later than expected – and beleaguered contractor Ontario Sports Solutions gets $89 million of withheld payments.

A survey from hicksville high...I mean, Lethbridge cow-tipping school, what do you expect? PureBS. The Argos are nowhere to be seen in TO and Mr. Reginald Hillbilly the researcher is pushing his inbred CFL agenda

The survey has weight but has flaws of course. Profiling Canadians and then attempting to extract that data as a profile of Toronto is not realistic. Toronto is as Canadian imitation maple syrup.

The TFC TV thing again does not mean much either. If there was really an correlation then the Argos would be making money and TFC would be bleeding cash, if RC was the issue solely then why are the Blue Jays not performing as poorly financially as the Argos?

The Jays are losing tens of millions every year. It just doesn't get reported. Bob McCown was talking about it on his show the other night. He was shocked by the number in 2014.

The Blue Jays also sell tickets for 81 home games. The Argos sell tickets for nine.

OK come on now. How does the Argos having nearly 7x the TV viewership hold no relevance in any argument? And please provide me with factual information stating the Argos are losing money.

Actually... The only argument supporting TFC holds more water in Toronto than the Argos is that TFC average 3000 more fans on game days. So basically what your telling me is that 3000 more fans watching the game live trumps half a million......let me repeat that.....HALF A MILLION..... more fans watching at home??

I'll buy you a beer on Sunday.

I'll be waiting by the stairs to Section 225 wearing a long sleeve grey 2007 jersey with Dichio 9 on the back.

Unless you are watching it on MLS Live that is.

how about the owner of the team saying this in September 2013

http://m.thestar.com/#/article/sports/ar...to_argos_bc_lions_by_2016.html?referrer=

Quote:
While selling the B.C. Lions will be easy because the franchise is doing well financially, Toronto, which he bought in 2010, will be more difficult, said Braley.

“They are still losing money,” said Braley. “We will eventually make money. We need a new stadium and I have three communities looking at land now. There is a fourth one as of (Wednesday).”
How about the Commissioner of the league in 2011?

http://m.cambridgetimes.ca/sports-story/2593539-argos-tiger-cats-only-cfl-teams-losing-money

Quote:
But the league’s two southern Ontario franchise continue to struggle.

Hamilton posted a losing record (8-10) and again lost money but at least made the CFL playoffs for a third straight season, reaching the East Division final. And in 2014, the Ticats will move into a new stadium.

The outlook isn’t quite so rosy in Toronto, where the Argos (6-12) finished last in the East Division and missed the playoffs for the third time in four years.

What’s more, Toronto’s average attendance at cavernous Rogers Centre — which has a seating capacity of 54,000 for football — was just over 20,000 per game. The Argos’ top draw this season was 21,189 for their home opener — a 33-24 loss to Winnipeg on July 23 — and five times they attracted less than 20,000 spectators.

Hardly an encouraging sign for David Braley, who took over as Argos owner in Feb. 2010. But the prognosis wasn’t good, either, in 1997 when Braley purchased the B.C. Lions, who face the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the Grey Cup on Sunday.

Cohon said the CFL has earmarked $1 million for the Argos and Ticats to split evenly to help their marketing initiatives.

“This is really a first step,” Cohon said. “We’re focused on doing what it takes to turn this challenge around, which is the biggest opportunity our league has moving forward.”

Hey guys. Let me start off by saying I'm not a TFC supporter nor a Soccer fan to begin with. I'm a die hard CFL fan so my knowledge of Soccer is basically null so please don't attack me for anything I say I'm not trying be a troll I'm just uneducated on the sport and from what I gather on other forums you guys aren't that friendly to CFL fans.
If I were a mod, this would be a major red flag. The forum is for MLS fans, and you are basically saying you have absolutely no interest in TFC and soccer - why are you a member again? You then return a few hours later with this:

Quote:
I think you guys need to realize the Argos pull 18,000-19,000 fans per game on average. they were doing a lot better actually they were bringing in 30+ half a decade ago. And that is in the worst Stadium experience possible. I ask you to be open minded when I ask this question. Do you think if TFC started off in Roger Centre they would be the success they are today? BMO is a big reason why TFC has the passionate fan base they do today. but 18,000 fans isn't far off what TFC has been pulling in and the TV ratings for TFC vs Argos basiclly lay it out for you clear as day. People love the Argos in Toronto. Alot more than TFC, they just don't like going to RC to see them. and do you blame them and as a CFL fan I have seen a Stadium turn around a team before (Montreal). Why are TFC supporters so Ignorant to the CFL?
You call TFC fans ignorant and you make a blanket statement that the Argos are obviously more popular than TFC. With consideration to the forum you are posting on and the fact that you have come out clearly from the start as not a TFC fan, this post is the definition of trolling and the mods there are obviously quick to shut it down and far less tolerant of it than they are here. As far as the mods are concerned, this is an easy decision; you come in claiming to want to hear TFC fan opinions, but instead start arguing and saying stuff that is clearly going to rile things up. It's sometimes better to nip that stuff in the bud.

For all you people saying that they just don't tolerate people challenging the TFC is the greatest narrative, the very next post is as follows:

Quote:
I think the Argos actually sell out during their first season at BMO. Not a papered sell out like a lot of TFC games. Actual fans. In seats. At kick off.

And I am still of the belief that there will be no impact on the quality of the pitch. It will work.
And somehow that guy isn't banned. The major difference between him and Oilkountry is that he is probably a TFC fan.

Woah buddy. I came in there looking for opinions. look at the comments after my first one. Almost immediately TFC fan boys start taking cheap shots at the CFL and the Argos. I never back lashed or was ignorant I simply stated some facts and i was way more polite then any of them were! and I never called any one ignorant i asked why they are so ignorant towards the CFL. No question about it. they were definetly being Ignorant towards the CFL one guy even said "they should take it to a city that actually gives a crap about them" I even called the fanbase passionate

The Eskimos made 3.6m net profit and they do much better with attendance than the Argos, so it's not hard to imagine the Argos losing money... especially with tidbits like this:

Quote:
The Argos' paid attendance ranks last in the CFL and has fallen below 10,000 per game, according to sources, with some corporate sponsors ending their association with the team.
And most teams/leagues inflate their attendance numbers - there's no way the Argos averaged 20,000 per game.

where did you get that from? ive never heard that the argos only pull 8000 fans per games. This would be a first! I wanna see this "article" and its credible source.
