Can we stop pretending Montreal is some fantastic skyline, i mean some of the comments in this thread are so delusional. Montreal is a boring, old skyline that isnt even in the same league as Toronto, Calgary, and Vancouver.

Not saying Montreal isnt a great city, im talking about the SKYLINE. Its skyline is like Hamilton on steroids. I always laugh and cringe when people try so hard to find redeeming qualities about the Montreal skyline.

Montreal has my favourite skyline. It's like the best of Winnipeg and Hamilton time 5.

Can we stop pretending Toronto has a nice skyline? I mean, it's all bland blue glass condo towers...

Of course that is not my opinion, Toronto's skyline is nice but what about opinions? Are people allowed to have them on your watch?

Apart maybe from Scotia Plaza, there is not one major TO skyscraper which beats the CIBC Tower or PVM, IMO. Maybe you should move to Hong Kong if all you care about in skylines is height...

Wait, so you are pissed off because some persons on a skyscrapers forum give some love to a skyline that boasts towers by IM Pei, Mies Van Der Rohe, Khon Petersen and Fox, Peter Dickinson, Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, plus great exemple of pre-war skyscrapers and a new wave of all-glass sleek condo towers and numerous historic spires and domes ? Must be tough to be you. Cheers!

Guys common why are you even arguing...weve seen the pictures ITT at how breathtaking Toronto, Calgary, and Vancouver have been. And with Montreal its like yea wow...how nice...it is...those buildings yea...wow...just trying to find something to like...like trying to find something redeeming about an old woman whos aged like milk. Lets drop the act, lets put Montreal in the winnipeg, hamilton, and edmonton category already. Montreal is the best second rate skyline in the country for sure though.

You're clearly just a troll... Hard to take you seriously. Luckily there aren't many like you on this forum, as most users actually enjoy architecture and style.

To Scrapin's point, this does sound very much like a "I love her CURVES" kind of comment

Also, while we're talking about "leagues", please don't include Toronto with the others. It truly is on an entirely different league.

When the trolls come out, they come out in style. Next he'll lament how Quebec City, the prettiest of all in Canada, is bland due to it's lack of both height and skinny-ass 20-25 storey, green glass condos. Bravo champion.

I put Montreal, Winnipeg, and Hamilton in the same category as my favourite skylines.

IMO (emphasis on the M), Montreal's skyline is dated and boring with all the concrete 1960s and 1970s blehness.

That said, Montreal is one of my favourite cities in the country, possibly the favourite. It's a great city, full of charm and character and great food and awesome midrise density and culture. It's just not a skyline superpower, IMO (again emphasis on the M).

A city doesn't need a kickass skyline to be great. IMO Montreal is the best example of that.

I'm biased in that I'm a sucker for 21st century glass and steel. It just looks futuristic and crisp and clean to me. In my opinion (again, emphasis on "my"--we all have our own opinions!), it's a close call between Toronto and Vancouver for best skyline. Vancouver's got a kickass backdrop and the largest concentration of my preferred style, but Toronto just has sheer depth and breadth.

Are you being serious? Some humour is too subtle for internet forums.

If we're talking entirely different league, i would put Hong Kong and New York in that category. I'm not sure how you think Toronto is in that same league. It's an opinion thing I guess.

As for the Canadian League of Skylines, Toronto does look pretty bland from a lot of angles, as does Vancouver, except where Vancouver wins out is in its spectacular setting. I just don't see Toronto as a lone powerhouse when we see pictures like that.

Toronto has pure numbers. It's the biggest, that's for sure. Best though is a personal thing. Some like the futuristic look of Vancouver. Some like the office towers of Calgary. Sole like the shear height of Toronto. Others like the residential form of Hamilton. . . okay that last one might be just me. . .
