I do

it is going to be all steel, i suspect full concrete would be to heavy to build on the box Girders.

What will be fun will be the roof, which will be, if anything, even a wider span then todays floor.

I'm really curious as to how long the crawler crane is sticking around.
the roof will be fun, but its a pretty convential looking truss. it has a lighter load (basically itself and snow) to support, and vibrations from traffic Arnt a concern.

the rest of that structure will look like the top expanded part of the original td tower. Steel Colums, Beams and concrete floor.

the Pointy part, and some of the other features are also being done in steel. these i suspect will be more time consuming. there are 7 destinct phases for the steel work. there is alot more then you would think.

Thanks for all the info! I was wondering how the "pointy part" would take shape. That is going to be very exciting to watch!

Don't forget the 15 to 20 tonnes of possible production equipment hanging underneath it...

There's a bunch of newish yellow tower sections in Lead's yard now, probably going to see some more height soon from the shorter cranes.

Ziobrop's pictures give an exciting preview of what Grafton Street will look like when finished.

The Nova Centre has so many intricate details. It is far more complex than I could have imagined a couple of years ago.

It is good to see that a section of Grafton Street can be used by concrete mixer trucks for offloading - http://novacenter.builthalifax.ca/post/116650110268.

It'll be neat to see how the covered block of Grafton turns out. That will be a unique feature in the city. Hopefully it will tie together the two sides of Grafton and Argyle Street below.

Yes, I hope the scale of it seems large. One thing is clear... there will be a place to stand when its pouring rain in downtown Halifax!

When I drove by this afternoon they were lowering the jacking rig and there were still sections on Grafton, maybe the other crane will be done once supports can be tied to the structure?

HRM has put out a press release that Sackville and Grafton street use will be all fucked up next week (see: https://apps.halifax.ca/hfxnews/2863) Sackville and Grafton will be closed, Tuesday evening to Friday evening.

On Twitter, Ziobrop has said this is for adding an extension boom to the crawler crane.

The operation should look the same as when the crawler was assembled. The city apprently doesn't allow partial street closures, hence the "chaos" release..

Great pictures Duff. It is a similar perspective as the Nova Scotia Webcams - http://www.novascotiawebcams.com/en/webcams/nova-centre/ - but much higher resolution. It makes a world of difference seeing that perspective in such high quality.
Out of curiosity, is that the Nova Scotia Webcams camera in the last picture (lower right hand corner)?

Yup, that's the NS Webcam on the bottom right.

It looks like the framework on the outside is going to be steel. Will this make the building more visible with more glass and less concrete?
