This is pretty sweet! I love the way it's interactive, like Dilworth and Sister Cities. They saw a bunch of kids (and me on many occasions) taking a dip in Swann Fountain on days when the public pools were just tepid soup, and they did something about it.

And they kept the fountain centered with the Parkway, and more grass. Love this.

That would actually be really cool. They tend to focus so much on flowering trees that parks in the winter seem so bleak.

Now we just need to fix the MSB plaza. I think it would have to be something different from the new Love and Dilworth parks just to keep it fresh.

Yea, sell it to a developer. The city has invested too much money into Dilworth and Love parks to cannibalize it with yet another park. 3 parks/plazas in a one block radius (not counting the CH courtyard or the Clothespin)? So not necessary.

Imagine instead a residential or hotel building here with a ground floor restaurant or bar. That would really activate that barren corner and the whole immediate area, 10x more so than another park.

I'm really glad they kept the monumental fountain. I feel like that is just as iconic as the LOVE statue.

I came back to Philly to get married a couple weeks ago, and my new wife, who's Russian and had only spent any real time in NY among American cities, said Philadelphia really has its park/public space game down. Her parents also said the Barnes, for them, was equivalent to the Hermitage in terms of the quality of its work even though it's much smaller.

Critiquing a conceptual design is pretty pointless- and hopefully she gets that now. The nature of the 4 options she reviewed meant that they were lacking final design details so she couldve just waited.

I agree, a mix-use building with office/hotel would do great considering its proximity to the CC and CH.
