I noticed an application for development at in Broad just south of Vic this morning for an office tower. I only saw it briefly as we drove by, but has anyone heard anything more about this? I've heard nothing since that proposal when SGI was looking to move.

It was potentially one of the SGI proposals. Haven't heard anything about it, but the application has been posted there since the proposal talk (November I believe.) I'd suspect this is pretty dead at this point, although the signage is still there.

It is the old sign they never took down. It has an old (2013) DU application number on it.

All of the SGI proposals are dead, dead, dead. If SGI starts again then the whole proposal process will start again.

A new business has moved into Coda's old location on Albert beside Leopold's Tavern. Looks like a funky place:

Speaking of news businesses, got my haircut this morning at this new place called "SportClips". Very cool place if you're a sports fan. Locations in Harbour Landing & Quance in the east end beside Fat Burger.

Is it just a hair salon with big sports pictures everywhere?

They have flat screen TV's at every station with sports on them. They also 'specialize' in giving head massages when they shampoo and they give neck/shoulder massages as part of the MVP package. Pretty decent.

I have the be honest, SportClips seems like the place specifically designed to not appeal to me. It seemed tacky and aimed at 8 year old boys. Probably better than the douchebags at Ragged Ass Barbers though.

Bad experience there? I've heard good things from others, though I haven't been myself.

I went there the morning of my buddy's wedding and I couldn't have had a better experience. The guys were great.

Sport clips is a fun way to get your haircut. I especially like the vacancy signs that allow you to just wheel in for a quick cut when you are driving by.

Noticed on the weekend that there's work going on in the former Sport Chek location at Southland. At the moment, looks like simply subdividing the space. Any rumours? Or just prep to make it more appealing to potential (smaller) tenants?

It was pretty good. My buddy was getting married and he took us as a groomsman present to get a shave and a haircut. The guys were great. They gave my buddy a hard time and explained their stance on the whole thing. With all the women's specialty spas they wanted to give guys a place they could go to get an old fashioned barbershop experience. We had a lot of fun, a few beer and have all been back since.

I have it on good authority that the city and/or PCL are looking at putting up a second camera near Sask drive so there would be a good view in the open end of the bowl. I'm not sure when this would potentially come online though.

Thank god. For some odd reason I really miss not being able to see all the little bits and pieces of progress each day.
