Is this the long rumored media headquarters we have been trying to figure out?
From the article....

Silver Pictures Venice Headquarters & Current Projects

In 2016, Silver Pictures will move into the historic former United States Post Office in Venice, California. Silver has engineered an epic four-year restoration and renovation of the iconic structure, continuing his commitment to preservation and stewardship. His other restoration projects include Auldbrass Plantation in Yemassee, South Carolina and The Storer House, both Frank Lloyd Wright masterpieces. The Venice headquarters will house production offices with state-of-the-art post production facilities and a screening room, as well as the iconic WPA-era Edward Biberman “Story of Venice” mural which Silver restored and showcased at LACMA last year.

Must be a reason to post the news, especially on the Rogers Place website

Edmonton Oilers' owner Daryl Katz going into the movie business with Joel Silver
EDMONTON SUN

Oilers' owner Daryl Katz is segueing into the motion picture biz and Edmonton's arena district is set to benefit.

Producer Joel Silver has partnered with billionaire Katz, owner of the Rexall pharma chain, to create Silver Pictures Entertainment.

The company "will develop, produce and provide or arrange financing for its own slate of feature films, television and digital projects, both independent of and within the traditional studio system," states a press release from the Oilers Entertainment Group (OEG).

The Oilers' new home, Rogers Place arena, is set to open in 2017 and is central to the Edmonton Arena District, a $2.5-billion mixed used real estate development being led by Katz Group. As part of the new relationship, Silver Pictures will take an active role in helping to enhance and expand OEG's entertainment platform.

Yes he is for his investment portfolio...not about Edmonton. This business is strictly based out of the US...with a token peak at the Oilers. Otherwise this is not relevant to Edmonton.

Of course this is relevant to Oilerville.

Who knows what the spinoffs could be.

Your right...time will tell if there are any spin offs that create any significant jobs here. And if not then I guess this news story is really about his personal investments and less to do with the Oilers or Edmonton. It is intriguing though that the OEG put out a "public" news release...and this might all have something to do with taxes (non payment of any if possible) lol...being an international venture.

I thought the same. Maybe a partnership or amalgamation of them both.

Could be a eye popping situation!

Amen. The sooner that sorry statement to an unhappy period in Downtown Edmonton's dry spell is gone, the better.
