It will be built in the same manor as the recently completed Kildonan House on Rothesay (10 storey). It is also the same architect (MMP) and same CM (Akman)

Does anyone have a link/or more information reg: the developers of this proposal? I may have missed it if already discussed on the forum.

225 Units is still a fair sized project for the area.

Edit: multiple timed post answered above by Biff.

Biff, do you mean Ruth towers?

Kildonan House is the 4 story complex on the old church site on Edison @ Henderson.

I'll be honest, I have no idea what the final name of the development is but it was featured here on SSP. On Rothesay where Scotia Bank is. 3 connected 10 storey towers nearing completion.

Its Ruth Gardens, the latest of the Edison Rental developments.

Somebody was telling me that the owner of Edison has a big unit on the top with a nice view of the city.

Martin Bergen is the man who started the company.
He amassed one of the largest rental companies in the prairie provinces with approximately 5000 suites.
Fort Garry Place is the most recognized.

His daughter, Miriam Bergen – President as Martin suffers from some form of dementia I have heard. His daughter Miriam, has a couple of years ago remodeled his once cupid adorned lavish ornate home, and took everything apart and modernized it so to speak. She prefers contemporary looks but it was sad to see her parents love of intricate details and handwork and fine details everywhere destroyed.
It might have been nicer to sell it to someone who has that taste in décor and appreciates that look and to have built or buy the style you prefer.
She also sold off many of this European prized possessions porcelain and crystal that were amazing, many one of a kind pieces, some museum quality.
So, if anyone is living on the top floor as mentioned above, it would be Martin and his current wife.
I have also heard from a few people they knew including one of their favorite long time former employees that they lived there recently as well.

Here is the original. The final product will look less colourful and less Disney-ish.

^ That is such an atrocious rendering. But the good news is that the project is shaping up much better than that. The new windows on the old CIBC branch are looking good. And it's nice that they'll display their corporate identity a bit... thought it was odd that the only TV network in Winnipeg (right on the main drag, no less) was so secretive about its presence to the point where passers-by might have assumed that the building was either vacant or home to some nondescript government office.

I found the latest "Value Engineered" version which is actually much better.

From Prairie Architects web site

the front of the building is being made "round", i'm assuming it's to make it look like the base of a teepee. I don't mind the rendering above, not all that bad for a retrofit

I just really hope the front of the tower part in the rendering is all new... The cladding now is so bad, but it kinda looks like that.

Anybody know what's going on with the sidewalk lights on Corydon? Almost all of the actual lamps have been gone for a few weeks (just poles left).

Are they being replaced? Is it part of that $3.5M they had to spend... of which they chose to spend on those HORRIBLE "arches" ... like can they at least cover them in vines?

EDIT: Also, the Corydon BIZ site no longer exists.

Posting this over here to see if anyone knows:

Does anyone know what is driving the construction near the Sears Home store (St James and Ellice). That lot has been partially vacant for many years so I would guess the construction is occurring to meet a specific demand and not just being done on a speculative basis.

I saw someone post about the old Rag Pickers building somewhere, but can't find the post any more...

I don't have many details, but I do know it's going to be some kind of restaurant. My friend is a commercial kitchen designer and is working in this space.

Anyone know what is going on at the Garden City Community Center now? They have already built the new soccer complex and now they are building something else on the Leila side of the property, taking out a bunch of their nice green fields. At first I thought it was more parking, but now they are installing piles. What are they up to now?

What you saw being built is actually 3 new rinks together kinda like Gateway Community Center. A friend of mine's kid was playing there last week. I think the soccer complex is what is going up now on Leila.

I thought the soccer complex was completed already?
