Could the Alexander Dock location be repurposed as the "downtown dog park"? I sort of wonder where they are going to find the necessary, surplus, civic green space for that one.

Hopefully the "dog park" goes exactly where it used to be set aside - Northeast corner of Waterfront and Provencher/Pioneer between the trees and the 🞵🞵🞵🞵.

I would keep it green and keep an open vista. No more buildings on that side of waterfront. Oh yeah, no dog park!

What about a "dog run" as opposed to a full-on dog park? I've seen these in some cities, and they are generally well used, well taken care of spaces that create a hub of activity without making the area feel overrun by dogs.

You could probably cram something like either of these into Juba Park or the patch of grass beyond the right field fence at Shaw Park without too much trouble... it wouldn't have to take up that much space.

I've seen dog runs in Amsterdam in the median of boulevards. It's not as if the space has to be 5 acres or anything. Take a surface lot around Broadway/Assiniboine and convert it. Should be good enough.

Is there still a legal requirement to have a commercial dock downtown, or somewhere in the city? Or if something has to be barged on the Red River, would it would be loaded in Selkirk and sent out.

I was thinking of when barges are used for bridge construction / repair not so much as for merchandise transportation which was the original purpose of the Alexander docks.

First off I am a dog owner and I agree with River, too many dog owners think that their dogs have precedence over people!

Harbourview Park used to be a good place to walk until dog owners thought the designated off lease area wasn't big enough and turned the whole park into a giant 🞵🞵🞵🞵 mined expanse.

noticed work happening in the old ragpicker's storefront. there were construction lighting, drywall and architect's drawing laid out nicely inside.

Hopefully whoever is doing something in Ragpickers did due diligence and signed a good lease... I know someone else who was about to take that space that backed out after finding out about all the building's problems and that the landlord wasn't going to be responsible for anything that happened.
