This has been noted by an agent of the government who has temporarily taken over MoreTrain's account. We will be in contact.

Dang, missed it! I was so going to go all Bill C-51 on that comment!! Promoting terrorism by suggesting good places to terrorize. That's a slam dunk security certificate for incarceration without charges if I ever saw one.

The plan should incorporate a single line serving the Airport, then running underneath the Airport to serve Riverside South. This would eliminate branching/transfers and bring the line closer to the population it is intended to serve.

This option was considered as part of the N-S LRT EA and not carried forward due to security and cost issues associated with tunnelling underneath the Airport.

Did they forget a road alread passes under a taxi way? And there dont seem to be cost issues anywhere else on the line (RE SJAM Parkway alignment). Basically I am saying what I have said before, align to where the people live, or align to a TOD. Dont align to a cornfield that will have a parking lot in it because thats just f**king stupid.
Which road already passes under a taxiway?

The main road passes under a relatively minor taxiway to a hanger and stands for (I believe) the NRC.

OK, major peeve about the new and improved Trillium Line: the platforms at Carleton are still as tiny as ever.

Seriously? 15 years later, can we not get a few more square feet of concrete pad so that there's adequate space at crush periods? Or even - dare we dream - a little more sheltered space? (Crazy talk, I know.)

That would be Taxiway G (pronounced "Taxiway Golf").

It's in Carleton's master plan that they want to eventually build a building above it. But the city hasn't said whether they will double the tracks or not, or when they will, which means Carleton can't consider building there. But nobody will want to put a station there if there is the possibility that it will soon be torn down and replaced with a building. Just one more reason to start doubling the tracks everywhere possible....

I don't quite understand your claim that a station cannot be built on the existing site at Carleton which is already double tracked. It is just that the current track consists of the main track and a siding. Even if they are going to build a station in a different location, surely to goodness the City and Carleton can agree now which side of the existing track will be double tracked. It is entirely likely that in the near future the Trillium line will be double tracked. There is no need for buildings to be torn down to allow double tracking.

Or they could just break out the old N-S LRT EA and see what side it placed the second set of tracks on.

Oh look, it's on the west side. The same side as the Carleton siding. AMAZING.

Next intractable problem, please.

I just don't think either organization is actually about to spend that money. And Carleton probably doesn't even have an idea for the building that would actually go there, they just say they want one there.
There's a bit on page 62 of the plan about potentially putting one on the east side of the track while they wait for the eventual full double tracking through Carleton.
Granted, the plan is 5 years old and should be under review this year, so maybe something will come out of that.

Well, until they go/no-go on building a building above it, how about laying down a few thousand dollars worth of concrete, chain-link, and basic shelter?

I'm not talking about an elaborate station, just a larger version of the cheap-ass, hopefully temporary, and totally inadequate thing that is still there 15 years after it was built.

NO! The current problem hasn't yet been studied to death! We need at least a $1.3-million pre-feasibility study SLASH EA!

Odd experience on the train today around 2:50. Train heading north from Greenboro came to a halt at the passing track even though the other train heading south made its way past. Generally the northbound train proceeds without slowing down too much. After about a minute of waiting we started moving again only for the train to come to a screeching halt just around the signal. Stayed motionless there for about 20 seconds.

I'm pretty sure I was on the northbound train, seated near the front cab.

First, it seems like we left Greenboro early, the train only waited six minutes. This threw off the timing, but isn't terribly out of the ordinary. It does mean stopping while the signals clear.

The next issues could have been a number of things, but having spoken to a train driver about a similar issue on the Talents in the past it could be the Dead Man's switch. We didn't pass an Indusi marker either time, the signal was either clear to stop or clear, and we stopped suddenly with a buzzer sounding in the cab. The driver had to call on a cell phone, I think they were pretty new to the trains, though this is speculation only because I haven't seen them before. The second stop we got going again much faster, and the driver didn't have to call.

This morning I was on the northbound train from Greenboro at just after 7:30. After the passing track we had to stop and wait for maybe 2-3 minutes. Once the westbound VIA train passed by the signal changed and we were able to proceed. It might have been something similar for you.

We were definitely on the same train! I stayed on until Bayview as I had some time to kill before getting off at Carleton and we're experiencing a delay. Driver alerted us over the speaker that there is some sort of issue with the train at Greenboro. Seems like they're having a tough day. And it does seem like many of the drivers out today are atleast relatively new.

New Trains are Noisy!

I rode the new train set for the first time today. While idling, the engine made a lot of noise. As it accelerated out of stations it also made a lot of noise. Only once it was "coasting" did the engine become quieter.

In my view, these new trainsets are not an improvement from the old ones. But maybe that is just me.

I also didn't like the long linger times at stations.

They need to keep these trains moving.

To true, but with only three passing sidings it is pretty much impossible to keep them moving or reduce wait times. They need to have the long dwell times to syncronize the 6 trainsets to almost perfectly arrive at the sidings to reduce passing dwell times.
