in all seriousness Vantage Pointe is like a giant city block wide wall. The colour is a cheap trick to try and distract from this fact. It also already looks dated and will only get worse.

I guess they could be considered the modern commie blocks along with things like these, in the sense that they are cheap and generic.

Wow gotta love those 'luxury condos' in the first pic. That hotel is hideous too despite the fact they actually spent the money on brick the whole way up. My philosophy generally is that these types of buildings should have at least a couple different materials. All concrete = ugly and all brick = ugly. That's to say nothing of the heinous form of those condos. I had no idea modern buildings were still being built that way.

Claridge, the developer of the "luxury condos" has perfected the cheap "subdivision in the sky" concept.

They also brought us dismal buildings like this one in LeBretion Flats:

Anyone who doesn't love that beauty is, in my opinion, deserving of a terrible bout of flu at the very least. An unfortunate loss for Ottawa.

I used to hate it, but it grew on me over the years. Then they demolished it.

Same story with the Lorne Building; used to hate it, but when I started to like it, they knocked it down. It housed the National Art Gallery from 62' to 88':

Demolished around 2008-09 to make way for the James M. Flaherty Building, new headquarters of the Federal Department of Finance:

I liked the office building you posted before with the angled windows but this one I don't really think was a loss. The original was boring and the replacement is much nicer IMO.

For sure. You look at before after, the first one is a much bigger loss and we could argue that the second building is no loss at all in its final state. It was much nicer when originally built. The siding was a type of stone, not big-ass pre-cast concrete:

Lol, and there's so many of them alongside A15. Sheraton, Hilton, Holiday Inn, Best Western, all near the Centropolis. Go figure...
