I want to say Southland is the second best mall in the city, behind Cornwall. They have a little bit of everything inside and out, and I find myself there more than Northgate even though I live blocks from Northgate.

Southland Mall is definitely the second best mall in the city. It's the only enclosed mall (other than Vic or Northgate) that has seen recent million dollar renovations and refurbishment. The only major issue now for the Southland is to shuffle some tenants around to free up larger leasing square footage for larger, more national or international retailers. Right now they have a lot of small chunks when they could have a few large chunks to lease instead and draw major players to diversify and bring it closer to the level of Cornwall.

Northgate needs a lot of tenant work as the inside of the mall is actually not visual bad looking. Vic Square needs a lot of work tenant wise, interior wise, and Golden Mile, well, even though Superstore is going to be great for that property, it won't count really as a mall anymore since it won't really be an enclosed property anymore.

Cornwall Centre I love and it will continue to be our major mall in the city, but I just wish they would expand upwards. Though it looks like step by step they are utilizing all property they can (ex. Lulu Lemon, and now Havik's/Smitty's). Any word on "H&M" plans?

I might be way behind the times on this, but I just discovered OpenStreetMap as a great Google Maps alternative. The level of detail in this map is awesome. Tracing every walking path, bike path, bus stops, every parking lane in parking lots, and even showing paths that aren't really paths but just a place where people cut across as a shortcut (i.e. Deshaye school). Pretty impressive stuff for a community-sourced project.

Impressive, it has streetnames of new privately developed neighborhoods in Saskatoon, like Aspen Ridge, before they have even been submit for review by the city

(yes they come from a list of approved streetnames, but as of right now I don't even see them assigned on the conceptual maps from the planning dept). Must be the consultants/firms that did the design that are updating the data on there?

There is a new video board being assembled at Broad and Vic today in the Rooftop parking lot. This is a very prominent intersection and a gateway to downtown. It will be a very noticeable change.

It is also confirms that the office building proposal for that corner is likely dead or least way off.

It appears that Evraz Steel has proposed an expansion. This in today's budget according to Newstalk:

Given that Evraz has actually had to lay some people off due to the oil rout, it is not clear whether this is going ahead. Presumably it is a capital project for the long term though.

Does anyone know what is going in this building (the blue one) on Albert Street downtown? The building has been renovated and I noticed the other day a liquor license permit posted in their window. Looks like another lounge or restaurant opening up downtown!

They've been working on it for a couple of years now. They had to start by getting around the asshole across the street's whining.

Cool thanks. And yeah pretty brutal about the owner of Slow whining about parking when he's got a parking lot in front of his place. And totally different attitude then a lot of the other new and existing businesses opening up downtown who are embracing competition in their vicinity as good for everyone.

Will be curious to see what the new club is called, hopefully they get their social media up and running soon..

They've been definitely been working on this one for a long time. They were finally able to get moving a couple of months ago. They're still a little ways away, but I think they should be open this spring, for sure.

Hopefully it does well, but the fact that the building was a former grow-op will probably turn some people off.

I don't think anyone will care. They won't be living there. hopefully they restore the exterior of the Yeager Block. It is not an unattractive little building:

Great building. Nice little ghost sign on the side as well. I couldn't imagine anyone being turned off by that fact, seems a little trivial.

I'm pretty sure all cocktails are hand crafted. If they weren't they'd be machine crafted. That would be pretty cool actually, a robot that pours drinks and shakes martinis.

I'd go to Lot Club just to see that.
