That shot makes Vancouver look bigger than 2.5 million, especially considering how much density there is outside of the frame on the right side (English Bay and West Broadway).

It would be cool to see that same angle on a clear summer day with Mount Baker visible.

Sorry, I misspoke. I should have said:

Outside of the West End of the downtown Vancouver peninsula these century old wood frame houses are as rare as hen's teeth in downtown Vancouver.

I quoted Martin Mtl's specific question ("Nice little painted ladies indeed, but are there only four left in downtown Vancouver?") and gave the answer in that context.

Is that major road there the one people were arguing about a couple days ago? reminds me of a Calgary downtown street.

Cityplace (Block 22?) will really fill out the left side of this picture. The left side is lacking the same depth of towers as the right side has.

Man, sometimes I look at pictures like that and wonder what Toronto would be if they had the same mentality back in the 70's that they do today and it was never built (or significantly scaled down).

Weird.

They aren't too common, the one you're looking at is between Georgia and Alberni. The others to the right of that look like one building/block streets but those are alleys down the middle.

Weird.
There's a lot of things in the 70s that were never built or scaled back.

Few photos of surrounding Olympic Village in South False Creek. This whole area is going through a huge transformation through a dozen new buildings going up.

Downtown

2nd Avenue panorama. Most of those towers in distance are along Broadway, which will see a Skytrain line being built under it in the future.

North Shore Mountains across False Creek.

Olympic Village panorama with the main square and brewery in the middle.

I love the olympic village.

I live about a 5-10 minute walk away. I go there and love to chill by the aqua bus dock.

I always love that view coming into downtown on the Disraeli, I just never make it out to that end of the city.

Really makes Fort Garry Place/Heritage Landing look even more disconnected from the downtown core, though. Nice shots.
