That's true, but this is a step down in terms of location. The area's a bit of a retail dead zone. And when you think the Marks and Jysk are going to be gone in the next 8 months...

True. Maybe it'll spur some trendy developments there though. The most unfortunate thing is when a cool place like that opens a deck that looks out on a parking lot.

Yeah I really dont know why these places dont do rooftop decks more. Is it just too expensive? Calgray seems to have a ton of them. Lancasters for example would be very cool with planes flying over head.

Regina is made up of primarily senior citizens, and seniors have troubles getting up and down stairs.

(tongue firmly in cheek for that comment)

I'm the sure the pub is great, I was mostly commenting on the state of suburban (not inclusive) architecture/design. Very utilitarian.

Anyone else attend the Urbanity101 forum last night at Queen City Hub? As a non-planner/architect/engineer it was pretty informative.

In the oil producing areas the jobs are less , it's good we have potash without mosaic we Regina would not have that new office tower

Does anyone know who owns the Northgate Mall? I just feel that this mall will sooner or later need a renovation or maybe a new marketing campaign or something to inject some life into it. Also the website is awful and the list of tenants is dismal.

This is Westdale's only property west of Ontario which likely makes it easy to ignore. They need to attract a solid replacement for the Target space.

Noticed the sign this morning for Papa Murphy's Take & Bake Pizza. I didn't catch what the second sign beside it was. It's going into one of the spaces in the new strip mall on Quance east of Sobeys and west of Truesdale. I think Gold's East is supposed to be on that block as well. There's a strip mall and a bigger two storey beside it.

They're adding a pad site with Original Joes sometime soon. They've also been waiting to announce a decent new retailer but the Target failure probably has made them reevaluate everything.

Agreed, have you tried looking up just a list of stores on their directory? YOU CANT. It's all 'sponsored' links to stores that fill 8 slots at a time. Also, they really need to stop with the pad sites in these locations. What's wrong with developing a cohesive plan for the area?

Maybe; however, the Target folly was Canada-wide.

Yeah, but I don't see what that had to do with my comment.

The mall has been working with a big retailer to take a big chunk of space. They were working this deal before Target failed. But now with Target gone they're obviously going to reevaluate where people would go in the mall.

. . . . . and along with Southland and Vic Square. It sure appears that those two aren't doing too shit hot either.

Vic square I agree, but Southland is by far more popular even though it has quite a few vacancies.

I want to say Southland is the second best mall in the city, behind Cornwall. They have a little bit of everything inside and out, and I find myself there more than Northgate even though I live blocks from Northgate.
