It wouldve been nice if owners of 8th and market lot offered ANY comment about what they are doing with that site. I guess they are taking notes from PREIT. The less you say, the better.

I walked by it the other day and I'm shocked that there are still cars parked in the center portion of the lot. It has sunk so far below surface grade that it looks like it's about to open up and swallow all of the cars any day now.

It's probably just not a priority right now.

Demo permits pulled for 1902-1904 Chestnut as part of the 1900-1906 Chestnut group of properties owned by Pearl, site of 26 story tower proposal.

Curious what is going on here as CCRA and Clarke refused to support zoning changes last fall. As we all know as of right in Center City is sorely underscale lacking in imagination.

Also reporting on fresh demo permits for the already approved demolition of the rear interior at the Boyd.

Didn't they purchase an adjoining lot a few months back, which in turn eliminated the need for the zoning change/variance?

Today I saw a truck doing test bores on the lot at 4th and race where about 7 million different hotels have been proposed.

Also if you haven't take the pedestrian walkway over the Ben Franklin

3737 Market is now 100% occupied. Who smells another office building coming to the UCity Science Center? 3400 Market maybe?

they have been talking about developing the lot west of 38th for a while so I think that is likely to be next. I know they wanted a hotel within the area, but if the demand is there for office space perhaps that will get the nod. I hope they build something taller than 3737.

They already had preliminary renderings out for 3400 Market which is why I mentioned it. It could be 34th and Market or 38th and Market. And the original science center building on the opposite corner of 34th and Market and the parking lot next to that is also set to be redeveloped in the future.

CHOP, Penn and Penn Medicine, Drexel, tech companies galore, pharma, bio, healthcare and medical research firms. Cira is filled with finance, law and tech firms. FMC tower by FMC which is a chemical company.

In my dream world they'd basically blow up the space between Market and Chesnut, 38th and 40th (except for the Hub) and expand the science center there. Make 40th and Market into some sort of "Gateway" into university city, which would make sense given the subway stop there.

Probably not the best idea to finish the job of destroying "black bottom" by bull dozing those low income houses right there.

From Wikipedia, Black Bottom was "Situated in West Philadelphia generally north and east of 40th and Chestnut Streets."

3600 Civic Center Parking lot is not fully open. Hopefully within the coming months we can hear what the plans are for the 1/3 space that is primed for a nice size building. Last renderings I saw were for the space to be occupied by a 14 story building.

*Penn Tower Garage is closed and fenced. Surveyors were out today.

This garage is coming down right? Part of the mega hospital buidling project to replace the penn tower.

Scaffolding going up on the rear of the Boyd and should be coming down in short order. Also the parking lot to its left has been fenced off. Didn't think the lot was part of the Pearl plans as well?
