thanks.
If you were in the SE I would recommend a place called Unlimited Performance and Exhaust, they do the maintenance on my car and are very good mechanics, they aren't cheap though. Not sure about the SW though.

I assume your car is no longer under warranty? the dealership could provide most of the services you are looking for, but their mechanics are pretty hit and miss...

One thing to keep in mind, is if you do use a Lube place like Minute Lube, they tend to have you come back at a considerably lower mileage than what it says in your manual. For instance the place I use says 3K and my manual says 5K.

Also for insurance if you are a University grad, check if TD has a discount rate for alumni from your alma mater. We have our car and house insurance through TD as they offer a fairly good discount versus what I used to pay Wawanesa.

Search around online for others experiences with the companies, sometimes it pays to pay a bit more to get better service. Also most car insurance companies will also offer home, life, etc. insurance and will give discounts if you have multiple policies with them.

I think TD offers a discount for APEGA members too.

Yeah TD Meloche Monnex gives a 10% discount for most post secondary grads, I have them and pay about $85/month for my car...

First thing you will need to do is go to a registry and get a "request for out of province inspection" form. They will beat you for about $10, from there you take the form and your car to a designated inspection facility for the Out of Province Inspection(OPI). Be prepared to leave the vehicle as this inspection takes about 3 hours to complete(2.5 for inspection and 20 mins or so of paperwork). Once this is complete, they will give you a copy and you have to return to the registry no longer than 14 days from the date of the inspection. Most shops will be around the $200 mark plus shop supplied and tax.

Common issues that trip up cars is window tint( no film is to be applied to the inside of your drivers and passengers window.) then your basic safety equipment.

any more questions feel free to PM me or just respond here

TD has a "discount" for anyone with a heartbeat. I got my best rate at RBC. AMA couldn't match it, even after being with them for years. So shop around, or if you're lazy/too busy get a broker.

before you get soo cheeky suburbia, I'd suggest you look at what is happening in the industry right now.

For everyone else I will sum it up, due to less tolerances and better manufacturing standards coupled with increases in oil technology has increased the service interval on modern vehicles. While the manufacturer is recommending an increased service interval, many of the retail shops are lagging and using old intervals.

This gets complicated by the fact many cars now come equipped with a form of oil life monitoring which informs you when to get a change. SO if the shop is saying 5k or whatever, and the car is saying you still got 5k left and the manufacturer says listen to the car, is this so simple?

an example of this is my car, i had my oil changed at a dealership who said 5k was the service interval. Ford states 16k or one year whatever comes first. So if I followed the dealership I would change my oil 2 additional times at a cost of $120 a pop when it was not necessary.

Lamborghini Calgary to sell Koenigsegg Automotive AB hyper cars

MARIO TONEGUZZI, CALGARY HERALD

The New Koenigsegg Regera is presented during the first press day at the 85th Geneva International Motor Show in Geneva, Switzerland, Tuesday, March 3, 2015.
The New Koenigsegg Regera is presented during the first press day at the 85th Geneva International Motor Show in Geneva, Switzerland, Tuesday, March 3, 2015.

It’s a major coup for the Calgary auto industry.

Koenigsegg Automotive AB, a Swedish manufacturer of high-performance sports cars also known as hyper-cars, has chosen the soon-to-open Lamborghini Calgary dealership as its first authorized dealer in Canada.

The Lamborghini Calgary dealership, with its 17,500 square feet, is expected to open May 1 along the Meadows Mile project on the ridge at Blackfoot Trail and Heritage Drive, above Deerfoot Meadows.

Asgar Virji, president of Lamborghini Calgary and Vancouver-based Weissach Performance Ltd., said the dealership is moving from its current temporary location at the downtown Eighth Avenue Place tower to its new location which will also house Lotus, Porsche and pre-owned sports cars.

Lamborghinis in Calgary will range in price from $262,000 to more than $440,000 and the Koenigsegg is priced in the neighbourhood of $2 million.

Virji said there will be six Lamborghinis in the Calgary showroom as well as about 25 other luxury vehicles.

He said there will not be a Koenigsegg vehicle in the Calgary showroom because it’s a special order vehicle built to exclusive clients’ specifications.

Virji said he has known Christian Koenigsegg, founder of the company, for 25 years.

“He’s an incredibly talented, interesting inventor of a guy. He has been pursuing a dream for a long time,” said Virji. “This is a very bespoke product. It’s like in a toy box. It’s kind of a unique place. And it very much felt aligned with what we were doing and lending itself to really amazing customer service experience, relationship. That kind of thing.

“I thought that the whole world whenever they show off a new car, a new brand, they pick a major city and I think Calgarians at heart are probably the most dedicated sports car, super-car drivers, in all of Canada quite honestly. Our demographics tell us that. There’s a huge amount of interest in Calgary. I thought let’s do the out of ordinary. We have a brand new store . . . let’s bring the Koenigsegg brand and launch it in Calgary.”

Virji said the only authorized Koenigsegg dealership in North America right now exists in Manhattan, NY.

The Meadows Mile is planned to be a luxury auto destination with a number of dealerships on the strip selling various brands including Ferrari, Maserati and Rolls-Royce.

Virji said the Calgary location will showcase Lamborghini’s most successful V12 flagship car the Aventador and Lamborghini’s newest V10 supercar the Huracán.

Lamborghini Calgary will have a booth at this year’s 35th annual Calgary International Auto & Truck Show taking place from Wednesday to Sunday at the BMO Centre at Stampede Park.

I financed my Mazda over 6 years and regret the hell out of it. I couldn't imagine the interest one would pay on $2mil haha.

5 years is enough for me haha.

Also, we're getting Rolls Royce here as well.

If you can afford a $155k down payment on a car it's a good bet you don't have to finance the rest of it. Why do they even try...

Any 'reasonable' and recommended car detailing places within walking distance of downtown? Our cars need a good detailing and I'd like to be able to drop it off during a workday and then walk into the office.

I think there's an underground wash underneath Holt Renfrew. The only place that I can think of that does full detailing within proximity is Bubbles.

EDIT: There's a mobile detailing company that car people in Calgary know pretty well,

http://mobilereflections.ca/about-us/

They do pick-up and delivery service. Jed does great work and know friends that used his services with positive results.
