Ya, I can't believe it either. I worked at the east SS when it opened. ('Transferred from the Dewdney Ave store.) I remember clearly that both Superstores opened on the same day as well as the east Wal-Mart. I remember having to get everything finished 'n shit in time.

I quit there shortly thereafter and 'moved to bigger, better and "higher" things.

REGINA — The Mosaic Company is doubling down on its five-year-old, $1.5-billion K3 mine project at Esterhazy with a further $1.7 billion investment, which will make the world’s largest potash mine even larger, company officials announced Monday at its Regina head office.

The expansion project will create 300 construction jobs a year — 600 at peak construction — and bring total investment at K3 to $3.2 billion when production begins in late 2017. “When complete, this will make K3 the largest, most competitive potash mine in the world,’’ said Gerry Couture, vice-president, capital and engineering for Mosaic Potash, which is headquartered in Regina.

I wonder if the slowdown in oil sped up the timing of this development for them? Easier to find the labour, materials might be a little cheaper than they otherwise would have been, etc.

I know its probably not going to happen... but I sincerely hope they can figure out a way to get a back entrance into that superstore. As it's the city's second larget bus hub next to downtown, I think even the student demand for groceries at superstore (cheap foods) would demand an easier access point. Not one where they are forced to walk around the north side of the mall, especially in winter months. I think it would be an easy setup too. Either a small entrance near the back corner with a few tills, or a long hallway that cuts through the building connecting the back to the front entrance as just an internal sliding door.

I believe the mall is still going to be a thing. It looks like in the renders that there is a mall entrance in the corner between the Superstore and Goodlife Fitness. I'm assuming it will just be a hall to get to the theatre and bowling alley, but it could very well extend out to the back.

That is fantastic news for the continued boom in Saskatchewan! Who knows, maybe Mosaic will end up outgrowing their new digs and need to get Harvard to build them another tower

As far as I know, Vale was to be a tenant at 1855 Rose. With this announcement though, maybe it could spawn other similar developments.

I believe all that is left to form is two story roof line , maybe some else would know , 1855 is like a dream project maybe something will happen this year

My guess is Mosaic is doing this largely to reduce the amount of royalties they have to pay.

This is why we have royalty credits for new investment. If we did not have this most of the new potash development would have been elsewhere in the world and we would have lost out big time. These new expansions and new mines will eventually pay royalties for 50+ years and also support many jobs.

Unless they have a really bad year and we have to net pay them. I think this happened in 2008 or 2009 or something like that.

You may be right with one more floor as they extended the elevator shaft as per the web cam

This is what makes SK attractive to resource companies, the incentives reduce the resource companies risk and if they get paydirt we all win.
