Just to be clear, I don't think it's the city's worst garage. It is however at odds with the rest of the Cira complex. It just seemed odd that they'd spend so much money on a great looking pair of towers only to have them visually marred by a garage that with a totally different and not very attractive design. That's all I meant.

I agree. Whenever I look at the FMC renderings, I find myself staring at that fugly garage.

Would be cool if they did something like have vines go up it, a display or just lights like the cira.

Yeah. Anything would be an improvement. It is true that the tenants occupying this Class A space tend not to care what the adjoining garage looks like (whoever said that). But this garage is also at a gateway and entry point to our city. It's one of the first things some people see when leaving 30th Street station. (And one of the last things people see when returning to 30th Street station) Some type of improvement should be made. When they were soliciting feedback on development of the 30th Street station area, this is one of the things I said.

Are we really getting hung up on a parking garage between two great new buildings? It's a parking garage - it will never be a great aesthetic triumph. Once FMC is up, it will look so small by comparison that I can't imagine it will detract from the overall project. Certainly not more than the adjacent ASFCME building. Plus, like Summers said, the front parcel over the tracks may be developed in the future.

I agree. Not to mention they may "green" the entire frontage of the parking garage with a living wall. If they're doing it on the side of the garage (shown below) whose to say they won't do it to the frontage. Brandywine CEO Jerry Sweeney is not one to cheap out on anything. He is the secret batman of Philly in my opinion (though he doesn't fight crime

. Most people don't know that he is also the chairman of the Schuylkill Banks (SRDC) trail across the river. He's given so much time and money to making the trail world class and its only going to get better.

And the big garage kicker, which all of us know, is the one acre park on top that is slated to be open to the public most of the time. The view from up there is going to be outstanding. Sunset instragram pics will be trending people. Sadly parking is still a reality but the big picture of this project is worth it and there is a way to make it 'pretty'.

That second shot will be even more incredible once we've got FMC, Comcast 2, One Riverside, and the new midrise (highrise?) that will go up at 2400 Market. And if Brandwine really does build a 1000 footer at 30th and JFK like they had bandied about?...with a wide angle lense, watch out!

There will definitely be some amazing and iconic views from the South Street Bridge and the Schuylkill Banks Boardwalk. These should become real destinations.
