It is funny that both Toronto and Vancouver have large sugar factories next to their downtowns.

The Vancouver one also refines imported sugar cane.
I think Vancouver's is the biggest in Canada. But Im not sure if all the space is in use. It looks like a great set for a horror film.

Wasted waaaaaay too much time reading the BS in this thread today. I'm starting to believe that many of you, from ALL cities, make great cases for birth control. The 🞵🞵🞵🞵 spewed, and arguments made over who's 🞵🞵🞵🞵/skyline is best/bigger, are worse than a lot of 5 years olds who don't get what they want. I'd love to see this thread, or better yet, the entire Canada section locked. I certainly won't be wasting anymore of my precious time reading the 🞵🞵🞵🞵 on this page. Peace out!

Yes Vancouvers is much larger then Torontos. From the air, I was surprised how small the Toronto factory appeared.

Don't read, just look at the pretty pictures. That's mostly what I do.

I'm not sure I'd want to be in any of those buildings in a major earthquake:

The blast wall required by the condos to the west is a testament to this.
Toronto has the 2nd largest food processing industry in north America. I believe Los Angeles is #1. Redpath is an important piece of that puzzle, provides high paying industrial jobs, and an interesting sight when sitting on that urban beach named for it: Sugar Beach.

Roundhouse adds to its area, but this goes one step further. It's still a functioning part of our industrial past. I'm glad it's staying put.

Yeah I actually love biking down to sugar beach during the summer and having (an illicit) beer while watching the massive ships unload. People seem to forget that Toronto's waterfront has a long industrial past.

That shot of Calgary from Deerfoot makes it look quite small! I think the aerials are best for Calgary.... IMO!

From the east is probably Calgary's worst angle. Although it is somewhat better with the Bow than it was before.

Viewed from the east or west, the Calgary skyline looks very small. Relative to downtown, the Beltline is very short, even though it has a has a dozen buildings in the 100 - 150 meter range and on its own would be a fairly tall skyline by Canadian standards.

Arguing about which skyline looks best is like arguing about which masterpiece of art looks best The Scream from Edvard Munch or the Mona Lisa from Leonardo da Vinci. This is very personal and there is just not a good answer. They both have their history and context. Montréal looks very old school badass and gritty which i really like and Calgary feels very young modern and agressive, both are awesome. Keep the pictures coming.

What is interesting about the arguments on here (and SSP Canada in general) is much of them aren't really related to skyline, but on city growth and prosperity in general, and how in spite of the fact that on many measures, Edmonton has numbers almost as impressive as Calgary but there's rarely if ever any back and forth between Edmontonians and people in the rest of the country.

I wonder why that is.
