Actually, what raises it to the next level is the bars on all of the windows. Welcome to Calgary's newest medium-security correctional facility.

Since posting about the house numbers the ad banner on SSP is now advertising specialty house number vendors.

lmao. Weldon Library looks like a great military command post for the cold war. Was it supposed to double as that when it was built?

Also... my street. It's only one block long... but it boasts all of these beauties...

The skinny house goes back a mile, fuck.

It's depressing how many Townies were willing to give up their living rooms for off-street parking in the 70s.

There are dozens and dozens of homes like this peppered around the city.

As much as I hate it... it is nice living in a neighbourhood where old tires are front "garden" worthy. And the gardens are paved.

^better lookin' homes, IMO, than the barred mansion pictured before your post. The barred mansion must be Mafia-don/Hell's Angels' Nomad or whatnot.

I was having too much fun with Street View and then I saw this :

Nobody can hide from the Evil Eye of Sauron... not even you and your family.

Oh my god. That would terrify me. Just install the searchlight from PVM, and presto, the eye of Sauron, err, Laval. It will get you, my precious.

It does have a large underground basement, and it has a now-closed tunnel connecting it to Somerville House. So, it's possible.

That oddly shaped tree to its right is kind of unnerving also. If the clocktower is the eye of Sauron could the tree be Saruman's tower?

One of the most heinous art pieces in our city. Just outside Bow Valley Square.

I actually don't mind this art piece which is situated on a new overpass linking Airport Trail with 96th Ave. In Calgary there is a law that any new public infrastructure has to allocate 1% of the budget to public art. Consequently this overpass had to have a piece of art attached. Due to the limitations of incorporating art into a car oriented environment which is very isolated, I think they did not bad. 9 out of 10 Calgarians will tell you otherwise though. People make a big deal out of the fact that it is so simple and that it should not have cost $400k. I'll let you guys be the judge.
