It depend if you prefer visiting in winter or summer but these days the cold wind is literally killing you...it's a hard time to really enjoy & visit the city at my opinion.

What's this neighbourhood like? Is it as dense and vibrant as it looks from the air?

I mean, the right side of the photograph could be Astoria, Queens.

It wasn't my intention to post an "empty" shot of the Edmonton skyline, I thought it was nice. Peak aerials just doesn't have many shots of Edmonton.

Here are there other good ones for Edmonton and Ottawa...

Good assessment!..Calgary did it right by intensifying their office space in the dt...Edmonton seems to have office building space or clusters of office campuses spread out. I know Ottawa has this going on all over the city as well..It would of been cool to see some of Kanata's high tech complexes or some of the gov't campuses moved into Ottawa's core..If Edmonton did this, you could tell how amazing that city's dt would look..It's decent enough as it is though.

The "other side" is actually the triangle you see on the right (that has the Davie shipyard at its tip, those cranes near the water).

The top part of the picture is a very rural island in the middle of the St Lawrence River.

The only visible parts of the north shore (the side on which Quebec City is) are very urbanized in this shot (downtown) but it becomes rural fairly quickly too as you drive east along the river (you'll end up to the left of the top of the picture).

What you can see of the south shore is also missing downtown Lévis (by not much, but nonetheless missing; would be just to the right of the pic) as well as its only couple tall buildings. The south shore also becomes rural fairly quickly as you drive away.

Is it possible to see a 100% HARD-frozen St-Lawrence in front of Montréal ?

I will certainly give it a go. But, right now, I really don't have a lot of cityscape shots going on in my Flickr portfolio. Not sure the Marilyn towers, up close, in Mississauga would qualify as a 'scape, per se. I also have some artsy shots of the Deloitte building in Mississauga. Again, not really a cityscape.

I see Rico packed up and fled. Didn't mean to scare him off, although I was clearly displeased...

Thanks for the welcome.

Amazing couple of pages here. Calgary & environs look so majestic here. Perfect shot: http://s3.amazonaws.com/medias.photodeck...-c54f84c98edd/13-10-25-0328a_xgaplus.jpg

Hamilton lookin' lush & tropical: http://oi59.tinypic.com/2yllj4m.jpg

...and then a little more like a rusty, red brick Appalachian city: http://www.metroperspectives.com/img/s1/v22/p682153964-5.jpg

And then there were those Quebec City aerials...damn.

Szoki Adams I took a look at your pictures on flickr and love them, so I decided to follow you. There is a section on this forum that is dedicated to personal photos and we have at least 2 members who mainly focus on random people shots (Kingofthehill, don't know if he is still around though, and mr. john who also happen to live in Montreal) I tried to take people shots in the past but I'm not good at it, so I decided to focus on urban streetscapes and architecture

No, I guess Rico didn't flee. Nor has he responded yet in any way. I just didn't realize at first that he was on a different page. Just getting used to the system.

I hope he fixes it.

Thanks for the nice words, the follow and the instructions. I will take a look around.

BTW, we prefer to call is Street Photography, or Candid Photography. Random People Shots sounds, well... too random. Street photographers look for actual content and composition and story. We like to think of it as Art. Kind of like the works of Henri Cartier Bresson, Vivian Maier, Kertesz, etc.

Oh, no worries, he will. He's not a dick in that way. And if he doesn't, someone else will fix it for him.

****

Love the defense of street photography. Never heard those terms before, and it's not my thing (too shy), but I get what you mean that it takes skill and talent.

You should start a thread, Szoki. Canadian Candid Photography. And share your stuff. Others will too, of course, but you have good pictures there and it'd be worthwhile to show them off here.

Hehehe I suppose that's why I was never good at it, I didn't have this ability. (I can make a composition architecture wise though, I suppose I am more a technical person)
