That one is boring as f@ck. They actually tore down a nice little old warehouse for this proposal last fall. It's great that the entertainment district is turning into a vertical community and most of the condos that have gone up have added in a positive way but every now and then we get one like this. There should be a setback and thinner point tower on top of a much more inspiring podium. At the very least the podium should try to blend in with it's surroundings with brick. Perhaps they are taking their ques from the Hyatt.

Agree this tower pretty boring. Disagree what was torn down was nice. The Second Empire mansion the ugly warehouse addition was attached too probably was very nice though.

I'm sure the original mansion behind it was nice but the old brick facade of the warehouse was a nice scale and could have been incorporated in the podium. The old red brick buildings are huge part of the vibe of the area and should be protected.

Looks good to me. Restored with a restaurant or bar in it would have been better then tearing it down.

Yes very boring indeed. At least from that angle. Unfortunately that's the angle where it'll be most visible from the street.

Cominar, based in Quebec City, has been working for a while on a new huge project for the Ste-Foy district in Quebec City. The 3-D model has been produced and so far we know that it will consist of 4 brand new towers (2 million s.f.) with commercial, office, residential and hotel components.

This morning, Cogeco News (through its FM93 radio station) claimed (apparently from a reliable source at City Hall) that one of the tower would be the highest east of Toronto...

Again, to be taken with a grain of salt!!

The mayor confirmed the information

It will be very bizarre looking for QC to have a building taller than 205m.

Quebec City is beating Winnipeg to the 200+ club? That's a surprise.

Good for Quebec city, hope it happens! But really, how realistic is this?

I'm not sure, but it's more than just a Rumour. The President of Cominar and the mayor itself confirmed that, same for the 50fl. height !

This might just be the kick in the nuts Mtl needs to finally build higher.
Hope the design will be top notch, because 50 storeys will definitely stick out in QC. Good on them if they go through with it!

Not if it's a residential tower with 52 floors and about 150 metres tall. Notice how the rumour is centred on floors and not metres.

The tower is supposed to be mixed-use. I don't think it will even reach 200m. But a solid 180m tower is possible.

Even 180 will be largely ignored by Montreal height enthusiasts. They already have that.
