Off the current topic. I'm wondering when the new Intl terminal will be completed? I'm flying through at the end of Feb. Guessing it won't be by then.

Construction is said to be complete by Fall 2015. The airport will then conduct at least 6 months of testing and final fit out. Most of the testing will be for the bag system.

Overall this puts entry into service at May to June 2016 period at the earliest. The problem with this schedule is that any further delays will mean the terminal is ready during the late June to mid September time period when airlines are going flat out with the summer schedule. A further delay will put EIS date after 2016 Thanksgiving as the airlines will not have manpower to conduct a opening day conversion during summer schedule.

Looks like the new terminal will have Marriott Branded hotel rather than Delta Hotel.

As a Marriott Rewards Platinum Elite status holder this is great news.

I suspect the current Delta Calgary airport will get branded into Courtyard chain with the new Hotel becoming a Full Service Marriott.

I just got off the phone with an acquaintance working on this project. as stated above expect this to open October 2016.But there was some skepticism in his comments.

^ As a marriott employee that is great news for me as well! Unfortunately I am disqualified from applying for any memberships due to conflict of interest reasons. Otherwise I'd do platinum elite as well, not that I usually get bumped to that status whenever I check in to stay at various properties..

There is also a Vin Room coming into the new terminal, it will be bigger and be a high end restau-lounge maintaining to the standards of its original property.

I love Alaska and I hope they don't cut back because DL enters into the Seattle mix.
Although I want to see frequencies to PDX as that is one place I want to go every year!

Maybe AS can refocus on PDX if they are getting squeezed out of SEA by DL? I'm referring to their YYC flights.

International passengers only. Yeah - these airports have ~70M international passengers per year! Atlanta is not even close. If I'm not mistaken, NY is ~20th and Toronto is ~30th.

At least YYC is on the list :-)

YYC-PDX is actually double daily for the seasonal summer flights :-)

Looking at Alaska's flights from PDX I don't think it's unfeasible to switch the SEA flight to there. You still hit a lot of the destinations to the south that people are looking to connect too (on the AS network).

I heard today that American's (US Airways) mainline service from YYC and YEG to PHX might move to LAX and PHX would become seasonal.

There's been speculation in this thread about what would happen to PHX... I haven't heard that specifically but it makes sense. WS will be happy to sweep in and add PHX seats from both cities where necessary.

Some nice history back to the HP days of that PHX service. Too bad if it goes away. A mainline alternative to WS/RV to LAX does sound nice though.
