Why do we need a negativity police? We're adults – we can handle opinions that don't match with our own. I don't believe he's being negative just for the sake of being negative in a trolling way. He has a valid point, and I agree with him. A large majority of development in Salt Lake is way too conservative when it comes to architectural diversity.

Keep in mind that 90% of towers from those decades were boxy.

While the Wells Fargo has a flat roof, I wouldn't call it boxy. There are too many angles. Three wide, and a dozen smaller.

I don't mind pushing my weight around when it needs to be done, regardless of what you all think. I don't care if I've done 50 post and the other has done 8,000.

That lobby is amazing! How are they able to get away from using a column in the corner or at the perimeter at all?! Very classy and impressive.

However, I'm still very unimpressed on how the tower sits on top of the EPAC. It seems like SOM had their hands tied, and were not allowed to sculpt this building to better respond with its connection with EPAC. 222 Main, by SOM, did an excellent job in sculpting itself to its adjacent buildings massings.

I agree. It does sit awkwardly on the building. But I like how the lobby offers a clean, clear, and welcoming image.

There are clearly columns at the back of the lobby. It's not all supported from the roof.

Very much agree with you gentlemen and the many other recent positive comments from the local forum members.

While it may not be a new tallest, or daringly curvaceous, it most definitely makes a very elegant, high quality statement for that particular corner. I believe very strongly that this current design of UPAC/111 is a far better more tasteful choice for that particular corner and location on Old Main, than what some of you conjure up as more daring. There are a lot of other locations throughout downtown, such as State, W. Temple, etc. where the more audacious contemporary would fit. Ultimately of the utmost importance, It all fits and integrates beautifully.

I did like the previous rendering and weave design of the tower. Again, when all is said and done, the previous accordion effect given the tower curtain, would not have been an attractive integration for the UPAC. It would be cool as a stand alone, but this current design is far more in line with an overall tasteful, upscale effect of the entire project.

...And LumberJack, you keep on expressing your counter, and or positive, and or differing opinion. As I do, I'm sure most on this forum find your involvement necessary and refreshing.

I have no problem with people being positive - but it's funny that someone who's pushing this idea that we all should be more positive turns yet another thread instantly negative by calling out those he feels aren't positive enough.

Nothin' positive about that. Stop being so negative toward other people's viewpoints.

Right. I just meant, that it's amazing that they do not have any supports along that glass perimeter in the rendering.

I agree there is no such thing as tenure on this forum. Though, I find it curious someone walks in and pretends to know so much about me to say I've never said anything positive ever - which is a blatant lie.

But as DMTower said - the issue here isn't that he disagrees with me. He basically told me to shut up and not express my opinion because he didn't agree with it. If he doesn't like what I've got to say, he can ignore me. It's not that hard.
