It looks like it is smack in the midle of the train station..for anyone that travels there, they will realize the Cira building is directly across the street from the train station..there is no room in between..

I work in the IRS at the old post office..they are still doing construction on top of the garage for the public green space, but they look a long way off, probably summer at the earliest as lots of materials, ect. are still taking up the 10th floor of our garage..we also have EVO residents using the bottom two-to-three floors for parking. I don;t know where everyone from the new "Cira South" building under construction next to the garage will park..they may be counting on a lot of train commuters..

The most cost saving would probably be to surrender the buildings in chunks. The model shots that someone recently linked that I posted awhile back showed a nice above shot of the main HUP chunk/block. It has quite a bit of space between the buildings. So they might do the HUP 2.0 in phases that correspond to emptying out & reshuffling HUP 1.0 a bit so that they could demo/remodel a couple chunks at a time. Hard to say really since they could just gut the buildings and re-fit the inside to be whatever they wanted. If I were them, I would want a gem of an academic building or set of buildings on that whole block that would let them grow into for new classrooms and/or Labs for the next XX years.

Cheers,
G.

I attempted to find some more renders of that building planned for Cira 2 but was unsuccessful. I did find this old master plan rendering, though, which seems like pure insanity:

It seems some people don't think it's that insane considering this is part of Drexel's master plan...

Well, no, those aren't the same at all, but Drexel's future city that it would build with unlimited resources, time and the rights to Amtrak's land is way more insane.

Oh I think that rendering is insane too. It just looks way more insane than the Cira Centre plan. I'd still love to have either

Comcast to occupy 100% of new tower,
sorry related start-up and innovation partners.

From the Biz Journal

This certainly bodes well for those of us hoping for tower #3!

Tower 2 isn't even above street level and I've seen plenty of discussion of a third comcast building already. Damn, comcast has spoiled us!

I'm confused . If CITC is going up on the surface lot at 18th.& Arch , the
only other lot I know of is between 19th.& and 20th. I haven't been in that
area for a long time but , if that is the " chosen lot " for a third tower , I have
trouble imagining anything too tall ....... IMO .
Of course , I'm still hemorrhaging over that 360'er that is going up next to the
old Blue Cross Tower . So I guess it is safe to say ..... not too much taller than that .

Two towers is where I draw the line with Comcast. Good for Philly? Sure. Bad for the country since Comcast is a miserable company holding back our infrastructure through an ever more paralyzing monopoly? Yes.

If Comcast is really considering going beyond these two towers, that seems to me just a sign that the Feds need to get serious about fixing the telecommunications sector and cut Comcast down to size.

Preferably after they finish building CITC of course.

How so? Regulate it as a public utility.

I am confident the Republican Congress will get right on that.

That explains why my Comcast bill keeps rising.

If Comcast is taking 100% of CC2 for employees, where are they going to house the Innovation and Technology aspect of the facility, which I thought was to include significant spaces for outside entrepreneural companies - a mini-Vertical Silicon Valley.

Amazon has submitted PLANS to build a 24 and 8 story Building and has designated 3 city blocks for 1 or more "Potential" future 38 Story Towers. That's a bit different than 2 - 1000 foot Comcast adjacent towers - 1 complete and the other under construction, plus the potential for another large tower, particularly if the TW merger goes through.

Adding 4 million square feet in a year and planing to have a total of 10 million square feet of space all downtown by the end of this decade is nothing to roll your eyes at. What would Comcast look like with an additional 5 million square feet of space by 2020?
