Then look west up the curve of Melville, past Bentall and Past the Hyatt and you can feel how it looms over the others. Dramatic feeling to the city at that point, IMO.
Yes, that intersection is a sweet spot for viewing in all directions. And it's one of the places where you can see most of the Trump from top to (almost the) bottom.

That's what you consider a "VERY PRACTICAL" idea?

LOL!
Sorry, I expressed myself wrong. I was thinking that a thread for viewcones/no viecones, or building height debates IN GENERAL might have be worth a seperate thread, but obviously anything but anything relating directly to the TrumpTower should go on the Trump Tower thread.

May be part angle but they do look quite high. Higher than normal at least. Maybe it is due to the height of the building so higher floors they wanted the guards a bit higher and you need to make things uniform on all floors.

The floor height looks to be standard so my guess is either it is angle of the picture or the guards are slightly higher than what you normally see.

Just a guess though on my part someone with more intimate knowledge of the building I'm sure can answer with surety.

The balcony glass "railings" do look a bit high in that shot, but perhaps its just the angle of the shot?

The balcony glass does look high, but maybe it's a hotel liability issue - with patrons coming up from that pool bar?
(rumour has it Vegas hotels usually don't have balconies because of casino suicides and drunks).

I hope they are the same height all the way up, though.

My pic from yesterday Robson & Bute. From this angle imagine another 7 or 8 floors, think would be taller than Shangri-La, can it be???

^^^^^^^^^the small 'filler' buildings ^^^^^^

How much more "shelf-life" do the small surrounding buildings, like the small white one centre-right, or the (in my opinion ugly) concrete HSBC have? Decades, I presume.
I wish we could see something like that I.M. PEI never-built beauty built somewhere there. In due time, of course.
Such buildings would complement, not compete with the Trump or Shangrila, being somewat shorter, and lend even more of that "purely, solidly downtown" feeling to W. Georgia.

Amazing shot. I would have started my glass business in the early 90s if I knew downtown Vancouver would turn out like this.

Great perspective.
Thanks.
Telus Garden condo may block it in future from this angle.

Yeah, that intersection offers a nice view. Great to see Trump being so prominent from there!
