That "fireball" shot is gorgeous! I can't wait for Trump to be done. Certainly one of the best towers in the lower mainland.

Pods from the mother ship. lol

Umm… woven reed balls hanging from the trees. Public art?

It made for an interesting looking shot as I was coming up the hill on Bute Street.

The hanging balls are Christmas lights - the balls are full of them which are/were lit each night as part of the West End BIA's Lumiere initiative over the holidays. They are rather festive when lit.

My guess is no. There has been lots of discussion about the final height and number of floors in the last few pages…

What I like is how the Trump tower is Vancouver's own "pencil tower". In the views of it looking west on Georgia, it reminds me (just a little) of the recently topped out 432 Park Avenue tower in New York (see pic below). Trump will be less than half the height of that one, though.

432 Park Ave. New York looking east on 57th Ave., Oct.20 '14, my pic

If so, wouldn't it be too similar a profile to Manhattan pre 2001 from some angles?

I don't think a little bit of Manhattan in Vancouver's DNA would hurt much
