Canada Revenue Agency will occupy the entire 140k SF second phase of the Containers on Terminal development, relocating from West Pender Street to False Creek Flats, the city's hip, happening employment hub.

No new documents that I am aware of, but the sales centre appears to be getting pretty close. I'm sure there will be lots of good stuff once it opens.

I've heard Spring 2015 marketing for a long time, so that lines up well. I think the signs say that now as well. Of course this will happen in phases. Given the placement of the sales centre, it appears they will build form the back forward.

Does anyone know what's happening with the Sin Bin Sports Bar at 2nd and Crowe? I live next door at the Foundry, and SB hasn't been open since before Christmas. The front door is covered with plywood and the inside is a mess, and there is no sign to explain what's happening. Their website, facebook page, twitter account, etc. have no explanation either. Maybe the building's about to be razed?

BTW - This is the amenity contribution associated with Concord's "Colours" project near Cambie Bridge.

The sheer cost of this project and the amount of CAC that was put towards this project is offensive. I say this as a member of a paddling club out of Olympic Village no less.

The paddling community for years has stood their with the hands in the begging position waiting for the money to come. In the 5 years I've been paddling I haven't seen one fundraising drive, I haven't seen one request for donations, I haven't seen one attempt to make this a reality. All I've seen is requests to lobby the municipal government to approve this CAC.

For a sport that costs a lot of people anywhere from 200 to 500 bucks a season (not including off season, year round paddling) I find the direction of CAC dollars to pay for the entire facility (which is a lot more grandiose than it needs to be) as a very poor use of Developer dollars. While I believe the paddling community certainly deserves a component of the CAC dollars, having been involved in a variety of sports over the years I have never seen a group just handed millions of dollars for a new facility with no fundraising on their own. Meanwhile there are other public recreation priorities that go under funded while what is in essence a sport for those that can afford it goes fully funded.

It seems quite rare that a CAC go towards a sports-related amenity, rather than a cultural one.

And how about that $1.2 million spinning chandelier under Granville Bridge for Vancouver House?

Just to clarify, every major rezoning in the City of Vancouver such as Vancouver House is required to on top of the DCL's, CAC's have a Public Art Contribution to the project as well. The Chandelier comes from the Public Art Contribution, not the CAC Contribution, very stark difference.

If the impression my post gave was Dragon Boat BC does not fundraise, I apologize that was not the intent of my post, they certainly do fundraise for operational requirements. HOWEVER with most organizations, including the Art Gallery, VSO etc there is a component of INTERNAL fundraising that is always done to go towards new facilities. My issue, comments, problem is the size of the CAC that is going to the boathouse with no FACILITY fundraising campaign done by the Dragon Boat Community. Dragon Boating has been around for a very long time in Vancouver and in that very long time there has been nothing done as an organization to fundraise for a facility? OHHHH whoops we need a CAC to pay for the entire facility? - I've never been involved in a sporting organization that got grant money, whether it be Lottery Funds, Municipal Funds or other that was not required to fundraise a least a percentage of the capital costs for a new facility.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the new Petsmart, but Bone & Bowl is gone in Olympic Village. Hopefully something more interesting takes its place. There are now two fairly prime retail locations available- the former Village Sales Office and Bone and Bowl.

WRT capital cost contribution, I don't think that the Dragon Boat society would own the facility (i.e. it's not like transferring space inside a condo tower to a society). If they raised funds for it and partially paid for it, then they could claim part ownership. I doubt that is possible with a City-owned facility.

I would assume that they pay rent for the space inside the Creekside Community Centre, so maybe they'll also pay rent for the storage space on the docks. i.e. do users of City-owned community centres help fundraise to pay for the capital costs of the facilities (or just rent and for programs and equipment)?

Concord Pacific has made a number of donations to the Dragon Boat society, including the purchase of boats, so it's really a case of a developer contributing to one of its preferred causes.

That was a pretty landmark location for a pet supply store. I think it was on the way out before Petsmart showed up.

But hopefully a busier retailer can open up there and add more to the area.
