Thanks for the pics.

Overall, Lido looks pretty drab next to the brick and glass on Central.
It may brighten up once the blue plastic is removed from the windows.

Or ... I wonder how the Bone & Bowl is doing/going to do at the OV - especially with Petsmart opening at @ the Maynard's Block pretty soon. Both the Bone&Bowl and the Village presentation centre are corner sites which I am sure Starbucks would love to have... Terra Breads wouldn't have an exclusivity on coffee would they?

Can OV be better than the future East Village in Calgary?

Way better. I live about a minute away from East Village and that place doesn't hold a candle to the OV. It's nice and progressive for Calgary, rent there is crazy expensive... but the OV has far more amenities and has substantially better aesthetics it's not even close. And isn't literally two steps removed from a massive homeless shelter.

I don't think you watched the YouTube video depicting the yet-to-be-realised vision of East Village before making your comment. I was referring to the future East Village of Calgary, which is a grander version of the vision for OV.

I am not sure where your (Vin's) hatred to the OV is stemming from. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but your opinion appears to be entirely one-sided (negative).

Regardless, the East Village of Calgary is a vision and a grand vision but in the minds of many Calgarians is a flawed vision. It is still located in an industrial area and there are 3 large active homeless shelters in the East Village. Drugs and prostitution in the EV are very prevalent and will be for years to come. EV is also located in a flood plain and despite mitigation measures, is still a high-risk area to re-flood. Vancouver's OV is an established area with False Creek right in front.. I would take OV over EV any day.

LOL the guy didn't watch the video because he lives there. I'd take his view every time over some marketing video.

Proximity is never an issue for Starbucks.

Example: stores at both 8th/Cambie and broadway/Cambie- one very short block apart.

Is your opinion not one sided? Hatred for OV? Lol! I never say he is not entitled to his opinion, but he was comparing the current East Village to the current OV. I, on the other hand, was merely saying that I prefer the vision of East Village more. Everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion, mine and yours included.

A new retail store is currently empty at the completed side of Main Street station. I wonder what's going in there....
