I like stucco (but bricks aswell) It's just a matter of taste. I just don't know what is our problem in Canada with Balconies. It should rather be integrated to the building's shape at my opinion.

^ Nice to see Hamilton increasing its density. The new James South GO should see an increase in density around that area. Hopefully this project is the first of many more to come.

A new proposal for Sault Ste. Marie. It's still very early in the planning stages. The first phase will be the relocation of the YMCA downtown.

The retail (and I believe there's office bits) is much more exciting than the residential, but the residential is pretty good news too.

The first one is decent but I like the Ottawa one better since there's more cohesion between the podium and the tower, and despite the protruding balconies it seems less busy.

I think I like the second one enough that I'm going to order one for Halifax. The site I've settled on is part of the Barrington Superstore Parking lot beside the bus/train station. Ticks all the boxes - eliminates some ugly surface parking in a highly visible part of town, improves the skyline, gives residents access to a variety of services, and far enough from current residents to help mitigate NIMBY concerns over height and shadowing.

The Connolly has been approved! It'll be Hamilton's second tallest building once built.

Hamilton's skyline is one step closer to adding its second tallest building and at least $750,000 to its tax base.

The city's planning committee unanimously approved zoning changes Tuesday to clear the way for the 30-storey condo tower planned for the former site of James Street Baptist church.

The decision must be ratified by city council Jan. 21.

Developer Stanton Renaissance plans 259 units in a glass tower that will sit on a three-storey podium at James Street S. and Jackson Street W. The complex will also feature what's described as a commercial patio at ground level.

John also said the height will not be out of character in the neighbourhood. At 106 metres, The Connolly would be second tallest, behind the 127-metre Landmark Place and just ahead of the Stelco building at 103 metres.

Apparently when they came in with proper analysis they found out it was in way worse condition than the parish that sold it claimed. The shear speed with which they tore it down showed to me a panicked attempt to save what they could rather than a blatant disregard for the building. Normally things seem to happen much more slowly in Hamilton.

I prefer Oakridge as it is, especially those sunken sitting areas.
