The updated design of Palliser Square aka the Calgary Balls is in and DP is going to CPC next week. Not sure of the height but likely around 130 meters now, with the addition of 4 floors. The project will include massive improvements to the streetscape of 9 Avenue, including the redevelopment of the Calgary Tower Podium, as well as a new public plaza on 10 Avenue and a +30 into the Beltline. The towers may be gods awful, but the public realm improvements will be incredible.

Not a fan of those Calgary towers... but the public square and performance centre extension look real nice.

"The Bartholomew", 13 floor building, will be the next phase of the Regent park redevelopment. Looks pretty basic.

Office buildings on each side of the Calgary Tower are not bad at all. Not exceptional, but not at all offensive. And as Coldrsx, EPCOR Centre of the Performing Arts is incredible! Is the expansion mostly lobby/exhibition/conference space? Are they also adding performance space in there?

makes Ottawa's NAC expansion look pretty bland in comparison.

The Epcor Centre looks really good. The twin towers each side of the Calgary Tower are just ok. They make the Calgary Tower look ridiculous and pointless however.

Agreed, the Calgary Tower's purpose is becoming more and more questionable each year. I assume the line of parking lots to the west are zoned to protect its views of the Rockies?

Nice but what's with all the grimy shit in the corners? Almost looks like meteors. Winnipeg seems to have something for weird atmospheric themes in their renderings.

The parking lots along the tracks are that way because they are undesirable to develop, or at least were until recently. There are already proposals for towers of 110 - 150 meters along the tracks, with a couple of 15 storey office towers currently UC. The Beltline is relatively short anyways compared to downtown, with the tallest only being in the 110-meter range (except for the Guardians in Victoria Park), so I guess compared to the height that the observation pod is at (about 160 meters), there's not much worry about losing the views. The mountains are already partially obstructed by the CBD anyways (Bankers Hall [197 meters], EAP [212 meters], etc.). Hope that explains it!

and yes, the balls are really terrible... which is something I've never said before

That's a nice addition but the existing gallery is new to me. Did a bit of digging and I really like that building, looks contemporary even though opened in 1972.

starting to see the 6 floor wood structure building code change influence building design already.. Expect to see a lot more 5-6 floor structures constructed in small towns and whatnot.
