It looks like someone was spinning donuts with their car in the empty parking lot!

The fire station is certainly staying there and so are probably the other buildings, even though they have negligible value as heritage. Nothing in Griffintown can be demolished without an urgent reason, like if a building is about to crumble.

Yoo will be built right in front of the fire station.

Vancouver is the only Canadian city that could -from certain angles and from pretty far away so you don't notice the height- pass from Mannathan. Just like the picture above shows it. It just looks like a massive wall of highrises.

Yes the term "Vanhattan" already exists so you're not the only one.

Nothing passes for Manhattan besides Manhattan.

Here's an uncommon angle of Ottawa from somewhere around 2009-2011:

When viewed from the West or East Toronto's skyline looks Manhattanesque, especially now with Aura poking up in the middle like the Empire State Building. One Bloor will give it a new "Midtown" peak.

The one problem with Toronto is that all the big highrises are on 3 streets, going north-south, while in Vancouver the buildings are spread over the business district peninsula, giving it more depth, even though its obviously not as tall its better at fooling the eye than the more linear Toronto North-South skyline.

No, obviously, but we are talking "Mannathan effect" here, or if you prefer, a deep wall of highrises. As it has been pointed out, if Toronto hadn't been developped around a single subway line, I suppose the CBD would have been more Mannathanesque. Remove all the highrises in North York and put them on the edge of the TO's skyline north of the CBD (on both the East and West sides, 3-4 streets further than where the existing highrises are located right now) and that would probably add most of the needed depth. I don't think this part of the skyline necessarily needs huge buildings to create the wall effect. The waterfront skyline has the depth and the height but lacks a bit of length.

Duplicate this 2 or 3 times along the lake and this would perfect:

Edit: Hell I even tried my hand at some cheap photoshopping. (CBD x3)

Toronto has the Manhattan effect when coming from the west. It just lacks the body of water in front. I saw a pic of Montreal that looked like Manhattan, with the river and bridge.

Not the whole of it, but it can look like a sliver.

Really, Pittsburg is like a mini-Manhattan by geography and build style (though a bit nicer in my opinion).

As much as I love Montreal, I think comparing its skyline to Mannathan's is far stretched.

But the one thing I like about the Jacques Cartier bridge is the old post-industrial city look it gives to the city akin to East Boston, the Bayonne-industrial New Jersey area outside NYC or Cincinnati. I love that looks and it is almost unique in Canada for a major city along with Hamilton.
