it is really nice to sit outside of the starbucks on a busy evening and watch the people go by; i'm just hoping that experience will be enhanced by the condo tower instead of supplanted.

How ignorant! When I say ignorant, I'm simply saying unaware of facts. I use to live in Manhattan for two years...first of all, there are quite a few Starbucks with patios. Those tend to be the most popular especially in the summer. Also, I wish some of you stop looking at NYC, as if it is the staple of what urban and or Midtown should live up to standards. Every single thing there is not perfect.

Oh, we surely know that.

Inman Quarter

If you haven't driven or walked by Inman Quarter in a bit, go check it out ASAP. The quality of building materials, and the way they break up the vastness of the building with different facades is really impressive. Additionally, the retail portion of the project looks totally pro.

Agreed. It's a great looking building. Can't wait to see when it's completed.

Dude, you seriously need to calm down. It's not that serious and there is no need for name calling. I was not comparing Atlanta to NYC first of all. I was simply stating an observation about patios. There are not many Starbucks or coffee shops in Manhattan that have patios. Seems to work fine for them. I also mentioned Savannah. This is why everyone on the forum thinks you're insane because of stuff like this. This is what a forum is for. For people to talk about various topics and issues. What I said was not ignorant nor was I incorrect in my observation. I go to NYC a lot. YOUR reaction was unecessary and ignorant. So calm down and go have a nice big glass of water.

Dude, your statement WAS incorrect. I use to live in Manhattan, and I vist there around 6 times a year. My parents live in Manhattan. As far as people on here that think I'm insane...typically they are the ones that have no idea what's really going on and do not financially support these businesses. I could care less about what they think. I join this forum initially for the love of skyscrapers. After a couple of years the forum became full of posters that felt the need to discuss what's urban and not urban. I partake in some discussions, others I leave alone. I apologize if you took offense to my statement. Next time, I will only state my knowledge or opinion on the topic.

Here, this should placate your desire to argue about Starbucks in Manhattan:
http://nycstarbucks.com/the-list/

For the record, none of the four Starbucks that I go to regularly in NY (near my house and my office) have sidewalk patios. But there are some that do. It doesn't really matter all that much frankly. The outdoor patio is a nice amenity where you can get it, but some areas don't allow it or are impractical.

OK, sorry for that interlude. Just thought I'd pipe in as the the resident Atlantan turned New Yorker on the forum.

They had half a dozen tables out front this morning so it looks like you're worries have been assuaged. The downside is they don't open until the 5th and they've already started dismantling the old one. There was a surveyor marking pipes when I went down looking for my caffeine fix and was devastated to see it closed after being away this weekend.

I heard from a Sbucks employee recently that the rest of the retail space in the new building is going to be a Teavana.

I would only add to this off-topic discussion the rule that it is illegal to have a Starbucks located within a Starbucks.
Incidentally, the 7th St. Starbucks was one of my favorites and went there every Tuesday- looking forward to the new location and finally the building to replace it.

wow, there are a few salty, contentious, wrangling forumers in the ATL forum. the verbal attacks are pathetic and juvenile.

on the plus, it seems to be a great time for atlanta. many of the new developments and infrastructure in buckhead, midtown, and adjoining intown neighborhoods are impressive from where i sit here in miami. i look forward to visiting krog street market, inman quarter, PCM, and much more on my next visit. i'd love to see more pics.

I'm guessing townhouses. The whole wall, out to the sidewalk, was framed in timber when I came to work this morning.

Definitely agree. We have some really, truly, authentic food in this city but it is all up on buford highway. It's a shame that Midtown can only seem to attract corporate-backed franchises these days (Burger Fi, Starbucks, Panera Bread, World of Beer, looking at you)

I'd kill for a Pho Dai Loi #3 in midtown.

It amazes me too. I guess people can't express their opinion, or actually just an observation, without being called names. oh well...

I like the patio too. If they don't add one, then lets hope they add plenty of indoor seating.

Retail demo is starting on Figo

The old Figo space on Howell Mill has demolition fencing up. Looking forward to the new retail building going in.
