It makes me think of Bel Geddes' Futurama exhibit at the 1939 World's Fair.

However, that's not at all a bad look for an airport hotel complex. The world of tomorrow!

I think it looks pretty slick. Not everything needs to be downtown.

So what's not to like about ziggurats on the tops of buildings?

Seriously, I agree that the facade needs some work. Just continue the first six floors up to the top, for instance.

However, I do like the scale they are using on these buildings.

Castleberry Hill lofts.

Joel Roth ,the owner of the Fulton Supply Co is, moving forward with plans to turn the historic distribution center into rental loft apartments that'll double as a walk-through of Castleberry Hill's history. According to Bisnow, permits were just filed to begin work on Fulton Supply Lofts, a planned 74-unit apartment complex in Castleberry Hill at 342 Nelson St, just two blocks south of the Georgia Dome and just off Mitchell Street.

Units will average 1k SF, and rent from $1/SF to more than $1.50/SF. Galleries of historic Castleberry Hill pictures will be incorporated into the former red light district in the 1800s, and highlight films the building itself was featured in like Driving Miss Daisy. Bonus: artifacts from the 1920s that will be incorporated into the units themselves, says Roth. Construction is slated to start early next year with delivery by 2016.

i am glad some of the awesome korean culture is starting to come into midtown, re: sweet hut. our suburbs have a lot of diversity that our urban intown areas are losing, and that needs to change.

Interesting how the "already paid for" pedestrian bridge over I-285 is missing from the renderings. This area is already a cluster*$^& and is going to be a disaster during games.

But if I am wrong, where are all the non-rich people living? Like the Serenbe Farms restaurant, do they pay the waiters much higher wage so that they can live within Serenbe? How can it really be sustainable if the low wage workers must commute from outside of Serenbe. And why don't they even bother to throw in a token black, or Indian, or any other race on their website photos.

It seems just as fake to me as Truman Show or Ave Maria, Florida.

And to get back on track here are some new renders of the Barves stadium, Guess the death knell struck the water feature

Agreed. And, given the instant success of Sweet Hut and the likely demographics of the 1,000+ occupants of the two new high rises on Spring, it seems like a trend likely to continue.

Speaking of....

Student housing towers on Spring as of yesterday:

Sorry this is blurry... But they're making quite an impact from the highway.

Merry Christmas everyone.

This is a version from a few years ago-- and not likely a current design-- The design team has changed but apparently Mr Roth is still using the old rendering--

New Starbucks is open. They're taking everything out of the old one. Good news for Seventh Midtown.

To be honest, however, both the original AFC stadium and the Ted could have benefited from a little of that "bubble" approach. Both were pretty much left sitting there alone in the midst of large parking lots, without much effort to seed the areas around them or integrate them into the community.

But I hear what you are saying about manufactured environments. Hopefully what the Braves are doing around the new stadium will take hold and be more than just an in-and-out amusement park on game days.

my only concern with starbucks is that there may be no patio for starbucks once the seventh condo building is finished. does anyone know if the starbucks will have a patio like it does today?

I think it'll be fine without one. Most, if not all, Starbucks in Manhattan don't have patios or outdoor seating. Even the ones in Savannah don't have it. Hopefully the inside will be as big or bigger than what it is now. Does the rendering show outdoor seating?

I don't see why they couldn't if World of Beer can. That's a deep sidewalk
