This is huge for the Hotel. It has always been held back by the Radisson brand which is not a luxury brand. The "Plaza" designation was supposed to be their luxury niche but it never caught on.

The Marriott Autograph Collection is made up of unique properties (hence the name). This will only be their second in Canada after the Algonquin in NB.

That building looks a lot better in those renders than the initial pictures we saw. Still nothing exciting, but it's a fairly clean design, so not bad.

I am very excited if it turns out Fuddruckers is coming back to Regina.

Are they bulldozing the buildings on the adjacent lot on 11th? Would be a shame as they are fairly nice.

No. They would be bulldozing the building at 1840 Lorne Street, south of the parking lot.

In 2015, we should go from zero Marriots to 3. Hotel SK., Pasqua and Dewdney, Albert and Parliament.

Do both the older building and the addition get lumped into 1840? Other than having no street interaction, the masonry of the older building is nice and looks to be in pretty good condition.

When I started working at Best Buy after it opened. I was told by the Manager that Future Shop was originally supposed to move into the same strip mall. Winners was willing to pay a higher lease though.

I am not shocked that Futureshop would be closing though. It was a dump when I worked there (commission was way better than lack of commission.) The lighting sucked, the wiring sucked and it was a pain for customers to get to. I am shocked it stayed open as long as it did.

They must as they appear to be one building and this project is very wide.

They said on the news that it is being torn down to make way for the new buildings.

Offices, street retail, condos and parking. Depending on the size of the units. I might look at this building.

I would assume living there would require being means tested.

Call me crazy but I still count 16 floors not 15, unless they're not calling the main floor a floor. Anyone else see the same??

I believe the news item also stated construction won't start until 2016..

I don't know, "affordable" housing in this country can be a lot to do with first time home-owners. Being "means-tested" would mean likely students or new residents, or people under a certain income. It isn't a building such as the lighthouse in Saskatoon, at least I don't believe it is.

I believe the main lobby area is two floors , a great addition , most will like a new grocer downtown , there could be another project looming to be unveiled next year , for the core
