Also, for what it's worth, not only does YYZ have a waiver reducing their divergence from 15° to 10°, but on their SID traffic off runway 05 climbs on essentially runway heading and doesn't turn 10° away from traffic off the south side till 5.7 DME so if Transport allows that...

Yes they have 10,860 feet between centerlines there compared to 7,150 at YYC but we have a stagger. I know absolutely nothing about terminal control but 10° with the immediate turns already in place at YYC seems (compared to what's already in place in Toronto) like oodles of room?

I get the feeling the airlines wouldn't like that much and there'd be a whole lot of 17L landers and a whole lot of 17R departures. Which, coincidentally, is yet another option.

Worst idea ever, though we get the feeling the tower would like that, it would represent a significant drop in capacity and actually increase complexity (in the air, which should trump on the ground).

Yes and no in the case of Calgary, if the oil price starts squeezing Calgary then you'd also see a reduction in people traveling and booking the higher fares too. So it cuts us both ways.

Saw the Speedbird 788 parked at the gate on our return from SJD Sunday, such a nice looking profile and the BA livery looks nice and elegant on it (especially the tail).

In construction related news, the first of two temporary US holdroom extensions for gates 21-24 has opened this week. This sees some of the former groundside seating area turn into post-security holdroom while construction (which will temporarily remove some seating) continues on the airside A-B connector.

It's kind of a funny set up, almost like these people are on "display" for the rest of the airport community.

Should be back to normal mid-2015.

WS campus is amazing, the most beautiful building ever and such friendly people. Watching a bunch of really smart guys run an airline in real time is fascinating. Weather hit the fan in Penticton so they had one guy sorting out that diversion, another guy was organizing the extra section YYC-YYZ that ran last night and what that frame was going to run the next day.

Indeed, Boeing won that particular head to head with Airbus hands down there's already talk of discontinuing the A380 in 2018. Great plane, shame BA are sending the 767 back to YYC.

I don't know the details, but I question the amount of stability a take over from a company based in a virtually bankrupt country will bring. Just sayin'.

Currently at the airport waiting for AC850 to take me to London. They've got us boarding at C31 which has at most 50 seats for 200 people! Bring on the new terminal

Update: quite the AC line up tonight.. 763, 77L, and a 788 from YYZ
