I think we figured out the 20-year lease on the Southland theatre space ended in 2017 and that there was a good chance it wouldn't be renewed. That means the theatre in Harbour Landing is a possibility, but not for at least 2 years.

The Canadian Brewhouse is going in directly to the west of Golftown. The steel structure went up earlier this week. Also looks like the exterior of McDonalds is pretty much done at the corner of Gordon and Harbour Landing Drive.

Also curious what constitutes a "theatre shaped" building? The building to the west of London Drugs looks like any old box store.

edit: that second sentence sounded a little obnoxious, wasn't trying to be...

You have to consider that the site planners, when drawing up the buildings in the site plan, could have just drawn rectangles as place holders for buildings. i.e. the Marshall's/BB&B building is essentially just a rectangle because I'm pretty sure they didn't know who was going to be a tennant there when they drew the site plan up. But if you look at the building next to London Drugs it has a very distinct design to it with a lot of 90 degree corners that would have taken some work to draw accurately.

If you google the Edmonton Cineplex South theatre and look at it from a satellite view you will start to see some similarities there between the two buildings designs in terms of the angles and shape.

Gotcha. It looked pretty generic to me but i do see the similarities.

Yea it is sad, considering that this burnt down and restarted. Haha, will be good to have it in the North end though.

Sheraton web site now says opening March 5, 2015. I believe this will be nearly 3.5 years since they started.

I will believe that when I see it. I am thinking the Keg will open before it

No way, no how. They still have only framed the interior walls. Nothing more.

Speaking of which, there's a contractor there doing some internal framing work. Very small crew working very slowly but it's better than the abandoned state it was in before.

Could this be going in beside the new golds gym on Quance? There is supposed to be a 7000sq ft restaurant there according to colliers website.

Can't recall if I saw this in this thread so apologies if this is repetitive: Jysk and Atmosphere are going into the old Zellers on the Victoria side. Sort of surprised to hear Jysk moving into the mall.

Looks like a little progress on the third floor. I'll take slow progress rather than no progress.

The visibility in their current location is very poor. They're hidden from all vehicle traffic on Prince of Wales or Vic Ave. The only way someone from out of town would know that JYSK is there is if they accidentally spotted the place while in the Rona parking lot.

I'm not sure what's going to happen with that plot of land to the south of JYSK but it seems like it should be rezoned residential if it's currently commercial. It's just a dead zone back there.

Might have missed this, but does anyone know what the small building currently being built on the brownfield site in the NW corner of Vic & Truesdale (just to the east of Brewsters) is going to be?

The big plot of land south of Jysk will be residential. All the residents in the area have received copies of the proposed development - 4 or 5 building condo complex. I assume the local residents were advised/consulted in conjunction with the zoning change - if its been approved.

It would be quite a surprise. Calgary doesn't even have one yet.
