After reading an article I think by ESPN, I posted what they said the chances were for one of the three potential contenders to relocate to an LA stadium.......Rams, Raiders and Chargers. The chances given were:

Raiders: 50%

Rams: 30%

Chargers: 20%

I personally think the Raiders are the most likely one too.

The politics on this one must be horrendous. I think that's why two different stories are getting leaked to the press. Its rather amazing to me that the issue is so contentious given that LA is the second largest media market in the country.

So Santa, we could really use some affordable housing – come to think of it, we could use any housing at all, since adding to the housing supply lowers its cost. Just so long as it isn't designed by DaVinci developer Geoff Palmer.

As much as it's a shame that we aren't maximizing height on either of these spaces, I'll at least admit that the scale for these developments work given their surroundings. They aren't amazing designs but then again they aren't offensive like a lot of what were used to. Quality infill (which we need).

Pershing sq on such occasions will be a bit more lively with larger numbers of ppl out & about in it....hopefully eventually being similar to what's seen in coastal areas around venice or Samo, be it the pier or the third st promenade.

the importance of increasing the 24/7 population of dt cannot be emphasized too much, since the presence of ppl, period....more than just the inanimate nature of good or weak architecture or good or bad theoretical urban concepts by themselves....is the key to giving life to a hood, esp dtla. But with an asterisk next to the word 'ppl', since dt needs not just more residents, but also residents who prefer that a hood be as nice as possible, & won't take kindly to decrepitude, including streets full of swapmeets or public areas reeking of urine.

Blackcat23 mentioned a few months back that 5-OH was rebranded back to Park Fifth and is being designed by Ankrom Moisan (Elleven, Luma, Evo). Is that still the case? Those renderings are a bit worrisome.

The tower's height has slightly increased to 255 feet from 241 feet. Overall unit count for the project is up to 660 from 615, while its retail footprint has dropped from 17,000 to about 14,000.

I'd hold off judgement of the new new Park Fifth until we see some artistic renderings, rather than a couple images from Google SketchUp. This is the only other picture floating out there right now:

Yeah, the low rise part looks better, the tower worse. I liked the overall vibe of a few revisions ago much better. Any news on the timeline?

I like the Shy building. Not a marvel by any stretch, but it will fit in well on the street. Love the rooftop park, something every building should do.

And don't forget that football stadiums have a much larger capacity than any other sport in the US. 70-100k, whereas hockey might be ~18k, for example. I'm not against the NFL coming to LA, but I don't think we need it downtown, that land could be used for much better uses than a stadium, IMO. The ONLY way I'd be down for this is if somehow the NFL or the team paid to have the various rail projects sped up dramatically. The city should in no way give any tax breaks or incentives to a team, nor should we beg. They should be paying us to come here.

Low-rise portion is supposed to break ground in mid-2015. The tower's timeline depends on market conditions.

Yeah, we don't need anymore Caltrans people downtown overflowing from LA Live... (Caltrans are people who live in the burbs and come downtown on the weekends)
