Which would be 100% acceptable (from my POV) if it was in a hockey related thread and that all I was doing was a fly-by without stopping and contributing crude information to the topic at hand. And I most certainly wouldn't take a second out of my day to stop and whine to the regular contributors about conforming to my wants (notice I'd didn't say needs).

Rubber Tile. Will be used in the Connecting Corridors, IFP Pier & Gate Areas and the Sterile Arrivals Corridors.

How is it conforming or whatever? A guy asked a question, which was politely answered, then a "Google it!" was needlessly thrown in when the question was already answered. All of this pissing back and forth discussion could've been prevented if that snide remark wasn't made. Simple.

Did people tell others to basically piss off before Google? Probably not. They answered the question. It's not about time or laziness or whatever the case. People ask "easily search engined" questions all the time in the construction thread. And guess what, if I have the answer I provide it.

As for the "byproduct" (poor choice of word I admit), I don't mind it at all. I read some of it and skip by some of it. Having a couple tin pushers here is a valuable resource and I commend that you find the time to contribute. It was just the "Google it" remark comes across as a "piss off, us big boys have no time for these questions from the likes of you!". Optics, man.

Anyway, that's all I'm gonna say regarding this.

Oh, most important to me. Thanks for your reply yyc_engineer. Looking good!

If anyone is interested, I just modified a greasemonkey script to replace Airport Codes with their expanded name. It does it inline.

You may want to enable it only for the forums here, as there is a chance it will replace any three letter acronym(only caps though). I've already had to remove LRT (LRT Lorient, France) and shortened Calgary. You can comment out any familiar ones with // in front of that line.

Why is this necessary ^^^

I don't stumble into a conversation between two francophones and say "Hey! I don't understand what you're saying?!? Can you speak English just for my benefit?"

Not sure you understand... this is a personal script you run within your own browser, if you so desire.

So your analogy is terrible, as avgeeks can continue as they were and those who run the script can have it privately decoded.

...similar to what a KLM pilot once told me out east...

Thanks for the excellent analogy, MMMBeer (Acey missed your point), though I think I'm done trying to obviate to others that which you just highlighted. I pointed out in my post #2436 the reason for my devastating tone of "do it yourself" because someone had done exactly that which you described above. Funny thing is, indignant undertone and all, all this banter won't have changed a darn thing, nor should it. Back to status quo.

Some people just expect to be spoon-fed more than others. In the interim, thanks for helping those in apparent dire need, Fuzz.

Yes I clearly missed that entirely and I see now that he is in fact on the avgeek side. My bad.

Either way, that script indeed has merit if it means people will stop complaining.

I don't really care either way how the discussion itself goes. I had a few free minutes and thought, hey this would be a neat trick if I could get it to work, and maybe some would find it handy.

Not often I drop a YYC new announcement.

You got a pretty big one coming in the next few weeks... don't say I didn't say so...

Let's just say the 788 will be atleast a 3 day a week visitor by AC.

Is that similar to the Airdrie intl airport?

Just saying YEG isn't what you think it used to be.

Yes I went as far south as I could.

Sweet. Shared PEK flight (slot, not frame) with YUL getting 4x/wk and YYC 3x/wk perhaps? Looking forward to the announcement. Thx again, Tuffy.

Based on how PEK and NRT currently fly, if we were to get PEK I would guess at something like this... just guessing. Such a sked would require two frames, and a YYZ-YYC morning leg to be permanently 788 and vice versa in the evening on PEK days.

AC039 YYC 1200 – 1500+1 PEK
AC040 PEK 2030 – 1750 YYC

AC037 YUL 1315 – 1750+1 PEK
AC038 PEK 1755 – 1540 YUL

Just an FYI, I edited the header section of the script, as it was running where ti shouldn't. Just replace the original header with this:

I have edited the original as well.

To further onto tuffy's pre-announcement above, plus over the YEG airport forum tuffy's is in trouble for spilling the beans. What should we call the pre announcement,
-PEKing duck,
- Kung hei fat Choy,
- year of the sheep, not!

Chinese New Year is mid February this year and the animal appears to be the sheep. But for YYCAA it will not be a year of in like a lamb out like a lion.

Also expect a lot of lobby by AC and Calin in particular, so at least one roadshow with Calgary chamber of commerce. Also there will be one big caveat t the announcement, subject to the competition tribunal agreeing to AC-CA joint venture on commercially viable terms. That is where the lobbying effort will be directed towards the federal govt. No JV no new service to china and the Canadian jobs that go along with it.
