This and the O-Train expansion. What the actual bleep is going on that is delaying these things? It's beyond absurd and drifting into straight up mismanagement/total incompetence.

The signs are working now, and are in the hands of the MTO. From two updates ago:

  • The three message signs are operational and have been handed over to the Ministry of Transportation.
This work is now done (at least from the City's perspective) so they're out of the updates now.

It still perturbs me that due to the N-S LRT misadventure in planning the wrong thing in the wrong place, we didn't plan what is now the Confederation Line earlier.

In so doing, we ended up losing the opportunity to put its railyard at the "Trainyards" location, which is now a sea of asphalt, and instead we knocked down a bunch of apparently decent buildings hosting viable businesses.

To be fair, the Trainyards development is a disgrace in every sense of the word for using such a central location for the worst possible style of suburban retail. I hate the place and I avoid it whenever possible.

Train Yards was approved in 2001 (at least the first part of it)

The summary doesn't mention the Preston Street extension. It looks like the arch support over the viaduct is complete and gravel is being pushed across it. The roadbed from the viaduct to the SJAM also looked to be largely complete.

I dream of a future redevelopment of the Train Yards into an urban entertainment district anchored by a new arena for the Senators. Intensify some of the projected population growth away from the suburbs.
Maybe in the 2030s...

Yeah... I get that... It's just that after more than a year I feel the risk increasing daily by not telling people to "Buckle Up - Drive Safely" & "Slippery Roads - Drive with Caution"

Has the MTO not been using the signs? I gave up my car back in September to become an exclusive transit user so I haven't been on the Queensway in ages (don't miss it!).

Nope... we've seen nothing other than the infamous blue pixels and the "Test Message".

I drive by the Parkdale one 2-3 times/week and have only seen "test message" (about a month ago)... and "lest we forget - ne l'oublions pas" on Remembrance Day.

It was blank Wednesday rush-hour when all the portable signs warned of slippery conditions.

They have apparently been operational, there was a great tweet I can't find showing a message with spelling mistakes.

Interesting. Though, if they're having problems it's beyond the city's responsibility at this point. The MTO certified them as operational and took ownership of them.

When it was snowing on Tuesday evening (the 2nd) at about 8pm the signed read 'Slippery Conditions Possible'. or something similar. Besides that it has just been blank even after it was handed over to MTO.

Glad to see the horrible Scotiabank building under demolition.
