Does anyone know what these "Lebreton Mews Towers" are? Are these the "tetris" office towers at Bayview? If so, what's the last we heard from them? Are they moving forward?
And all of those projects are just slightly outside of Ward 15

Looking forward to this tower going up. It promises to forever transform this area.
With the nearby Nuovo project (which was to include a small grocery store) now officially dead, hopefully the area's new residents will push for a grocer and other essential services within walking distance. It's not enough to say your condo is "central" or "close to transit". Density is great, but people also need places to walk to in a real urban setting.

I like how Claridge is going with the 'If you build it, they will come' attitude on this project. With any luck this building will be a beacon of intensification and will attract more of us stodgy Ottawa folk to live up instead of out.
REALLY Exciting news!!! But man, will this one stick out like a soar thumb until more projects go forward in the area...
Lord knows there's enough high-rise proposals going on in the area. Give it 10-20 years and it will be a second skyline.

It only takes a few prominent buildings to make a skyline (look at Cleveland for a good example).
With only Soho Champagne and this, it would be weird. Add Soho Italia (or something similar on that site) and Nouvo (or something similar on that sight), and bingo - you've got a transitional skyline.

For the record, both Soho Italia and Nuovo are off the table, at least for the foreseeable future -- and I predict the nearby Samcon "Dows Lake" proposal will be the next to see the axe. It would seem Ottawa condo developers are retreating somewhat given the soft market. Claridge knows they have at least 4 years before the Icon is finished so they'll likely get most Little Italy buyers now that their shovels will be in the ground.

Oh, I agree. Those looking to purchase in that area couldn't fill the half-dozen proposed buildings a year or so ago, but in the here-and-now, if only one building is currently getting built, those that really want to live in that location will have one choice - Claridge Icon.
Too bad about the awful food (groceries) situation in the area.
Site update: The sales building has now moved to Adeline and Preston in two parts. They are still manouvering the buildings into place over the new concrete pillars. Typical construction fencing has been placed around the condo site and surprisingly encompasses houses at Nos. 12 and 14 Norfolk Ave. So the site is going to be a bit larger.
That would be putting it near Bayview no? I think from that angle (if I'm judging it right, that's Gatineau in the foreground right?) the Icon would be behind Downtown and barely visible (if not totally blocked).
And the building is backwards. You would only see the curvy balcony side from the south and west. From this north angle, you'd just be seeing a tall wall of curved glass.
Before I made that hasty image, I looked on Google earth, and from that vantage point (Mont-Luc in Gatineau), the tower should be just to the left of the cluster of towers in Hull, but maybe I'm mistaken?
(and I know the balconies and crap are backwards, I was hoping it was too dark for anyone to notice. )
