Toronto at night from a good distance (at least Mississauga):

From Empty Quarter @ UT.

I love how it has the clear peak at the CN Tower/Financial District, but a plateau keeps going all the way back past Bloor, with a few standouts like Aura and Four Seasons (and soon to be One Bloor).

Wow, what a blast from the past! I thought it looked really familiar so I checked my computer and it is the exact same photo I've had saved on my HD since Sept 2009! That's probably my favourite angle of Montreal.

Amazing, that photo just spells "alpha city" to me. Definitely.

Really interesting shot.

Awesome shot (too bad about the window reflection though) It shows how layered in height / style downtown Vancouver actually is, which adds a lot of interest to the urban form.

Looks very organic from this vantage point.

Also looks much larger than a metro of only 2.5 million.
I don't think I have ever seen this angle before. It's fantastic. I had to do a double take to realize what city I was looking at.

Also that Toronto night shot at the top of the page is epic. The city is really lending itself to mega city type shots.

Lol, they're great shots but I'm not sure I'd go as far as to suggest that angels delivered them .

Would love to see a high res of that shot. Perhaps the photographer will supply us with more at a future date.

There's a higher res on his flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/empty_quarter/15718078662/sizes/h/

(can't post the picture though 'cause he's one of those wankers who doesn't allow people to save or share their photos)

Great pic, Breezy.

So, start on the left side, that second building with the revolving restaurant on top. Directly across from it is the Fort Garry Hotel.

On the building with the revolving restaurant, there is an elevator on the exterior, surrounded by glass, that goes up. You get in, and on one side you see the building, on the other side it's all glass and you see out across to the Fort Garry.

As it goes up, and goes above the roofline of the Fort Garry for many floors...

It just takes your feet out from under you. There's something about the effect.... it feels like you've been launched into the air without safe landing.

I've never experienced anything like it anywhere else. It's a quirk of the interaction between those two buildings.

Highly recommend it to any visitors to WPG.

Hah.
I know that exact feeling. It always takes my breath away (literally) for a second when the elevator starts climbing.
