I just want it to be distinctive on the skyline enough to not feel like a continuation of the table top skyline.

Only reason why it's so underwhelming from a distance right now is because it is a skinny building compared to the talls surrounding it. The only way to stand out from these talls is for the tower to break through the stocky crowd, then it would become awesome.

It's all about the ahgle of the shot.
Shangri-La is probably the only building that looks tall from any angle.

Even Wall Centre looks short from some angles (from the waterfront), and the 450 ft towers on the waterfront (i.e. MNP, etc.) will generally look short from the upland side.

Thank you so much Officedweller, finally got it. Got my computer so frustrated that it froze up on me, had to shut down and re-start.
So does anyone really know the correct number of stories for Trump. I think 67 is way too much, it would be taller than Shangri-La. From the drawings I've seen, think 59 or maybe 60 is more like it.

The floor heights are not as tall as the Shangri-La's.
188m for the height is correct.

We looked up the official height a while back - here's the post:

So again I'm painstakingly counting the floors from my photo, and it sure looks like 48 (unless there's some ghost floors) so you still say it will be 67 with reduced ceiling heights on the last 10. So I'm counting 19 floors off of my photo and picturing those 19 added to where they are now and unless those added 10 floors were designed for dwarfs no taller than 2 feet it's really hard to imagine Trump being 30 feet shorter than Shangri-La.

Nearest i have been able to figure is, this building will be 63 floors. 63 real, physical, non phantom floors. The information available (this has been covered a few times in this thread) suggests a building any where from 55 floors all the way up to 67. If you count the floors in the last or newest renders I come up with 63 "real" floors. For what its worth.

I kind of feel on a website about skyscrapers and such, where most of the people who visit the site pay close attention to things like, heights and numbers of floors etc. I'm surprised it isnt policy to only talk (or at least have the correct numbers in thread titles) in real numbers when it comes to the amount of floors a building has.

I know things like this probably doesnt bug everyone, but I see it get brought up enough times that some others may agree.

Assuming there are three floors' worth of space between street level and the first floor with balconies, this building will have 61 real floors plus a mechanical penthouse. As you can see from the render from the Trump Tower website, there are 58 balconied floors plus a mechanical penthouse:

Ok so I did some crude math which I admit is probably terrible.

The current height is 48 stories. I calculated each floor to be around 3 meters on average, from this I took the 48 story height and got a predicted total height so far of approximately 144 meters tall (this actually seems entire accurate).

In metric this means the building has another 144.3 feet to go.

It's currently 472.4 ft tall.

To put this into perspective., the MNP tower is only 1 meter shorter than Trumps Current height.
The building will be 188 meters tall, so in essence we have around 44 meters to go.

I added some data to show where the construction currently is on the building as a whole.

Each red dot up to the red line is 1 story/floor
